:) :) :) HOW MANY OF YOU USE YOUR DODGE DIESEL TO ROUND UP THE MOREL OR SOME OTHER MUSHROOMS THIS TIME OF THE YEAR? THIS WEEK IN KANSAS THE CREEKS ARE ABOUNDING WITH THE GREAT TASTING TENDERLOINS... WE WENT OUT ONE DAY AND IN ABOUT 3 HOURS WE HAD A COUPLE OF MEALS FOR THE FAMILY. THERE WAS A LADY THAT GOT 30 LBS OF MUSHROOMS. THEY SAY THEY ARE BRINGING $40. 00 A POUND IN KC, MO. WE TAKE A PLASTIC WALMART SAC LOTS OF BUG SPRAY , HIGH BOOTS AND ALWAYS A LONG STICK JUST IN CASE WE NEED TO HELP A SNAKE ALONG ITS WAY. BE SURE AND GET ALL THE TICKS OFF AT THE END OF THE HUNT. ANYONE OUT THERE IN DIESEL LAND HUNT THE MUSHROOM? LET'S HEAR FROM YOU?? Oo. Oo. Oo.

A few timber sales in the NW have been canceled or reconfigured recently after commercial mushroom harvesters protested. The Forest Service totally "forgot" about the economic value of mushrooms whose habitat would be destroyed during logging in their environmental impact statements. Turns out that when penciled out over the time for the mushroom habitat to recover that the mushrooms would bring in many times more money than the timber.

See what can happen if the environmental impact and public input phase of timber sales is eliminated as the Bush administration proposes? I've met folks who travel making very good money harvesting mushrooms from the woods.

In New England you have to know what is edible and what will kill ya. I could'nt tell the difference. You can find them in the woods, lawn ect.

Hey your not susposed to talk about mushrooms in the open, they are illegal.

Oh your talking about the food type, never mind...

Geeeze John,

I didn't think you old enough to remember the mushroom craze from the 60's or anything else from that time period for that matter:-laf

Pictures of Mushrooms

My Dad back in the 50's had a book of pictures of Mushrooms . In there it showed many colored rooms and told what you could eat and not eat. I remember him saying that when the wild clover bloomed (This is in north missouri) it was time to hit the woods... Anyway for those of you that want to learn about the Mushroom, May I suggest the LIBRARY... Good Rooming... Oo. Oo. Oo.

me! me!

I don't personally like to eat them, but the rest of my family does and I do enjoy looking for them.

Thanks for the reminder... I will have to go out and check for 'em this weekend. :)

With the Shroom capital of the world right down the street (Kennett Square PA), we can just go out to the store and buy what ever type we want. Don't have to worry about getting poisoned that way :( (Hell I don't eat them anyway)

In fact this one guy was growing some in his Shroom house and was having a problem, so He called in the guys from Longwood Gardens to give him a hand. Only problem was there were Magic Mushrooms and the guy from Longwood recognized them. they locked him up and threw away the key.

We go visiting my father in law in West Chester PA all the time - there's nothing in the world like the smell on the road past Kennett Square and the environs when they've just mulched for shrooms - yick!

WDaniels - I am not old enought to remember the 60's as I was born in 67, but I did go to college in Chico, CA. and 60's are rememberd there quite often.

As for mushrooms in AK, yes there are. I know up near Fairbanks they get them really expensive ones... can remember what they are called.
