What a weekend of trouble

I picked up an old 91 w250 snow plow truck with 103000 miles on it, probably all pushing snow. Well after replacing every u-joint in the truck I am pretty happy with it. What I was wondering is what kind of trouble is it to change the fuel filter compared to a third gen truck. I see the fuel pump has a prime lever on it and I'm not sure where there is a bleader.

Thanks

Hi, welcome to the club! Changing the filter is pretty easy, unplug the wire for the water indicator. Remove the filter, swap the sensor to the new filter

( cleaning it along the way ) install the new filter, plug in the wire. Some people fill the filter with fuel before installing, your preference. To bleed, above the filter there is a banjo bolt where the fuel line goes from the intake manifold to the injection pump, there is a small (10mm)bolt in the big one. This is the bleeder screw. crack this open and pump the lever, you may have to turn the engine over if you don't feel resistence. Pump till you get fuel, close the screw. I usually pump several times after to push a little extra to the inj pump. Lock the lever in the "up" position, start it up! :)

Well thanks to you and partsman. I didn't see the bleeder. The 91 won't run with the wifes 05 CTD but I sure don't have to be so picky as to where I park it!! I am really impressed with how easy it starts. If the doors closed that easy I'd be happy. I had to replace the wheel joints yesterday and five hours later it is now ready for the snow. I was also happy that the pins or whatever you call those things that are in place of the balljoints are very tight. I guess I need to make a little more power now, Ideas and suggestions are appreciated.

Seals?? I have to replace the pasenger door and just replace a hinge pin on the drivers. Looks like the wind or something got hold of the passanger and wasn't welded back in time. Lower hinge mounting area is too far gone to weld in a plate. I need to work on my profile.

Welcome. You won't regret it.

I sure hope that the word don't get out about these trucks untill I purchase my dually. The value of these things seems to be climbing as folk learn our secret.
