Tire Pressure

Last minute advice, please? Buying this week.

i bought the 02 2500 ho 6spd today. woke up at 5am and drove 4 hrs and it was worth it (i hope), however auto trader goofed the price and they were asking 18800! it is a one owner truck and in great shape. just needs ball joints and some other minor front work as far as i can tell. also change brake fluid and clutch fluid. ALSO- when i got home today from the 230 mile trip, i took it to my mechanic buddy to celebrate and scrutinize. the dealer (chevy) had done some minor service prior to sale (oil change, air filter, new serpentine belt, and i think a coolant change). so we notice there is the green coolant in the radiator and my buddy says this is the wrong kind, so i rush to shucks and buy 4 gal of murrays and we flush it. we did the right thing, right? sorry this is getting long, but i'm so darned excited:D, and nervous about this whole truck. it is the biggest purchase i've ever made. i have a ton of questions of course but i'll end with this one for now. is it ok to start from a dead stop in 2nd? 1st is SO low it seems pointless in normal city driving. it launches very easily from 2nd.

Congratulations on your new (to you) CTD.

Yes, it is okay to start on 2nd gear. 1st gear is a compound and is used to start with a heavy load and/or starting on a steep hill. I hope you have an owners guide with the truck. If so, read it. If not, get one and read it.

Yes starting out in second on flat/slight upward incline and of course downhill without loads are Ok.

You would have to check owners manual to see if engine uses regular antifreeze/coolant or the concetrated type. They did switch to the concetrated (red) antifreeze/coolant but I don't remember which year.

But you should be able to run the red even if it is suppoased to be green. REd just has longer change interval.

Don't know when they changed from green to red, but my 01 came from the factory with green. I wouldn't have worried too much. Congratulations on your purchase.

Congrats on the new truck, changing the ball joints will be your next task I did mine about 3 months ago and never want to do them again. how many miles on on your new truck?

Congrats! As stated above, get a fuel pressure gauge on that truck. You could be avoiding an injection pump failure by doing so. Not trying to scare you but do a search on "VP-44 fuel pressure"

Enjoy the new ride!
