I ordered my 03 Dodge Ram Quadcab Laramie 4x4 SWB on 12-03-02 from Kellogg,Idaho and was told it would be 45 days. And I couldn't believe it when they called me and gave me the VIN # and also said it was in D1 status. The day after christmas I recieved the paperwork of it's completion and it is waiting to be loaded on railcar and should be here by Jan. 9th. :) I can't wait to fly up to Spokane and the Dave Smith Motors will pick me up and shuttle over to Kellogg,Id. Then I will drive it home. This dealership is totally awesome. :) I ordered a fully loaded truck with the Cummins 24-valve diesel with a 5 speed, two-tone white and silver. I will post some pictures when I take delivery. When I ordered my 1999 Dodge Quadcab 4x4 diesel, it took 8 weeks and it was built in Tennessee. The 2003 is being built in Saltillo,Mexico. Doe's anyone know if the 2003's are being built anywhere else?

Take care and Happy New Year!!:)

Ken

good for you... i ordered on the same day and am in still in BX status. i was told feb or march before i would be driving it... :(

oh well, well worth the wait i'm sure...

Great Truck!

Sounds like a great truck. What other options did you get? What made you choose a 2500 over the 3500? I am looking a ordering a similar truck to yours and can't decide if I want 2500 or 3500.

My dad got his last car at Dave Smith and had a great experience. I have heard lots of good things about them.

Thanks Guys I really look forward in getting my truck soon.

Hi Vic,

I ordered the dark gray leather interior package with heated seats, power folding trailer mirrors, tow package,two-tone paint(white/silver),anti-spin diff. ,5 speed, and 3. 55 axle ratio. The reason why I went with the 2500 is I didn't want the clearance lights. I was ready to order the 3500, but the clearance lights couldn't be deleted. And the other difference was the additional leaf extra in the 3500. I have a set of airbags to put on the new truck anyway. I just like to level the truck when I pull my 21ft Tahoe toyhauler, and I also use the weight distribution bars. I can't wait to get my new 2003, they sure drive nice. They told me when I first talked with Dave Smith that the volume of sales per month when a vehicle is ordered, they are put ahead in the ordering status. They sell about 800 trucks a month.

Ken

Hi Dean,

Thanks. I thought there was more plants to build the trucks. Dodge has really cut back. I just hope they did a nice job on all trucks being on the other side of the border, lol:D

Ken

Thanks Steve,

Well I hope you get yours sooner. What package did you order?

Ken

Hi Crebelein,

What is BX status? I think mine being in D1 status meant it was a frame and identified with a VIN#. I hope you get yours sooner.

Tennessee??? I don't think so!

Hi Mike,

Your right. I found the sticker on the driver door and it's faded quite a bit. But it doe's say it was built in St. Louis.

Ken

:confused: I thought the only production of RAM/Cummins trucks was in St. Lewis and Mexico. Has that changed? Mine is coming from Mexico.

'03 Ram's made in Canada are news to me.

The '03's have three build locations. To check for certain look on your VIN #, the 11th digit.

S = Dodge City (US)

G = Saltillo (MX)

J = St. Louis North (US)

The Canadian stickers you are seeing "may" indicate that it is built for the Canadian market.

My 2001 HO 6 Spd. came from Saltillo and was in every respect a better truck than my '96 that was USA made. I think most of the improvement was due to working out bugs in the design and assy line, but whatever the reason, your Saltillo truck should be just fine!

I hope Dodge City does better than St. Louis!

Of the Dodge trucks we have bought since 1998 (some company, some personal) three from St. louis have had assembly issues and QC problems (loose clamps, paint runs, fits that don't... ). The two trucks from Mexico were both 100%.

And that's the truth:eek:

The new one is from Mexico, and so far, can't find anything wrong.

My 2003 is here :)

My 2003 Dodge Ram was unloaded in Spokane and is on the way to Kellogg,Id. . I fly up friday morning from Sacramento to Spokane and the dealer will shuttle me over to pick it up. I will get a chance to put about 1000 miles on it going home. I can't wait to see it. I will take some pictures and post them. My buddy at work ordered his about 10 days after mine and his is in D1 status. I ordered mine on Dec. 3rd.

I checked on mine this week and was still in BX status. They told me it shouldn't be much longer to be scheduled. They also told me that it will probably be built at Satillo plant. Ordered 12/16.

I'm on my 3rd RAM, first was a 95 built in St Louis, 2nd a 98 and 3rd my 03 were from Saltillo. No major problems with any that could be related to which factory built it...
