sounds to me that the Banks is working. All Banks boxes are engineered to add some power with-out increased smoke. This was their big selling point but I guess we all need to sell at any cost now. Controlling smoke means limiting the fuel at key times. I. E. hard launch and b-4 and after shifts AND at the top end due to the egt limits in the box. I would recommend this to any first time diesel owner that wanted more power. from here the sky is the limit as long as you can afford it. One last note, if you go for more, start with the trans on the auto or clutch on a stick no matter what truck model.

The way I have it now is pretty damn good. It likes the additional boost for sure and it is very clean burning (hint of smoke when I really romp on it).

I am going to install the Wilson manifold next.

Also, the gated boost controller was VERY easy to install due to the simple actuator plumbing. Later electronically controlled wastagtes would need the E version.

Its easy to see that the wastegates start bypassing early in the stock configuration. A simple check valve set at 15 psi or so mounted inline would help these spool much faster.

Please don't take it wrong. Banks products are top notch. And I am not dishing you at all. It's just the way it uses the info. it gets in and the limit set by the writer's maxium allowed limit (how all the power enhancers work). The limit set by Banks will be reached quickly and defueled to protect the drive train. If you really want to let it loose than go all the way and change the turbo for the power level you want but don't forget the transmission. Go there next because the power to the ground is what matters. A 600 horsepower motor that can only put 350 to the ground is not green at all no matter how smoke free it is. You've just scratched the surface with the boost controler.

The best way to go is both. Get them to work together and you are in. I'm not selling here or recommending any one. I say stay as local as you can to keep your friends and neighbors working. I live in Cal. and went with ATS converter and vavle body with local shop rebuild. High gear THUMPS at shift and will hold you in the seat till you lift off the go pedal.

I am in Central Cal. I would say A&A Transmissions in Turolck CA. Eldon and the guys are the best in my book. This is between Modesto and Merced on the Calif. 99 Hiway. Business Hiway 99 at the Turlock exits.
