I just bought a 96 dodge 4x4 with a cummins engine. i was having a lot of problems with the engine surging about 200 rpm when over say 1500rpm. i got the truck back to my home town of columbus, indiana. had a tune-up with cummins jim jessup. he adjusted the timing, put in larger injectors, etc. he also adjusted the tps (which was set at the dealer at . 7v and 3. 3v). the truck ran great for about 5 days and then i noticed the surging very infrequently say 2 times in a 30min highway trip. it was surging at 70mph (1875rpm up to 2000rpm). i will see jessup again on tues for my dowell pin fix. could this issue still be related to the tps? or may i have 2 problems going on? when i go to the dealer to check on a trans temp sensor they have not a clue as to what part i am referring to. some on the tdr board say it is in the trans pan and some say it is on the trans line on the passenger side. i have not used the mystery switch yet as i thought the jessup appointment would take care of it. i am somewhat confused at this point.
thanks for any input.
