First, I lost my drivers side door speaker about a month ago. I pulled the door panel to make sure the speaker was connected which it was. FYI, Dodge wants 1. 25 each for the plastic panel studs that hold the panel to the door and I believe there are twelve.

Now, I am losing the signal to the passenger side door speaker. Sometimes it happens on bumpy roads and sometimes on smooth.

Is there any amp on the basic am/fm cassette system? Is this more likely to be a radio, speaker, or wiring problem? How do I diagnose the system?

It's unfortunate, but I can't afford to replace the speakers and radio yet. All help will be appreciated.

Speakers are like computers: they only do what we tell them to. Sounds like your radio is either dying, or you have loose connections on the back of the radio where the speaker wires are connected. Trace all the wires as far as you can and look for poor connections. If you don't find some, it's the radio.

Had the same problem w/ mine: Drivers door panel speaker failed. Had an audio shop check it out, it was a defective speaker. They had a couple of factory speakers that they removed from other Rams when they upgraded. Works fine now, they charged me 25 bucks for labor, gave me the speaker.

Probably would have been covered under warranty, but I have a bombed audio system under the rear seat and wanted someone who knows what they're doing.

Check with your audio shops, they can check these out, and might even have the factory parts laying around.
