PACBRAKE - September, 2015 Promotion

You guys that think it's a ripoff amuse me. Shipping cost are not added after you checkout, they are there when you place the orderer.

There is no monopoly on hydraulic fittings, and things cost money to ship.

If you have ever done any business with Amsoil they will tell you there is a minimum shipping charge and that is what they charged you, don't buy anything that has to be shipped to you from now own and you'll save some change, Good luck,Monte

I can't figure out why they want to gouge you so much for not being a member or for shipping charges. Its pretty sad when I can go to the post office and ship something substantially cheaper than they are charging. Then to be a member you gotta pay for that too. In comparison, Schaeffers also charges more for ordering as a non member, but doesnt charge for memberships and gives free shipping on any orders over $75.00.

And then there's the Amsoil reps. Many have an attitude which I just dont care for, i have seen many of them on public forums throwing daggers at other oil companies or pushing their product on someone. They make a good product but I dont care for the image they uphold.

Amsoil now offers free shipping on all orders over $100.

Most companies don't ship with the USPS, it's more hassle than it's worth if you generally ship large or heavy items.

As someone who builds technology for online companies, I'll throw in my 2 cents. I agree USPS would have been cheaper here, but getting integrated with USPS from a technology standpoint, has, well, the efficiency of the federal government. :) UPS/Fedex have "real" integration specs, which are very thorough and easy to deal with. When going through the process, it's relatively clear and concise and you can get their folks on the line during the testing phase. With USPS, the process is laughable and archaic and so damn over-complex many just give up. Many that don't give up, use a third party middleware for the integration. In other words, they integrate with a third party who has already gone through the pain of integrating with USPS, then they build their own "easy" to use integration which you in turn integrate with. They charge a margin on top of the overall deal.

That's good for guys buying large orders, but someone like me that only needs a bypass filter every so often I get wrung out on shipping and "non member" prices. I forget the exact quote but it was about half the price of the filter which is $42 for non members. It was unnecessarily high for a small filter. People say buy into the membership, but when the membership is only good for so long thats a waste also. Fortunately a member on here sold me unused filters and cut me a very nice deal, but my next one I will be paying full retail, about $60 for one filter shipped to my door. Fortunately they last as long as they do.

Ive paid for enough things to be shipped via UPS and Fed Ex to know it doesn't cost $20 to ship a filter. Unless its coming direct from the warehouse in China....:-laf

I just tried to order a EaBP-100, $8.10 in shipping and handling.

Maybe they have adjusted the rates??

Get the membership, as a 6 month membership is $10 and the discount on 1 filter is $10.90. Then buy 2-3 filters and be set for 2-3 years.

Even if you only buy 1 filter it's cheaper to buy a 6 month membership than it is to pay full retail.

They must have found out Summitt ships Royal Purple free on orders over 99.00 :-laf

A rip off is a company using the USPS and your "package" gets lost. No realtime tracking. It was picked up and never delivered period.
1) You can't blame USPS for anything.
2) See point #1.

Better way is to order enough to get free shipping. Otherwise the $10.00 or less in shipping charges is less diesel than it takes to start and roll my truck.

I seriously dislike companies that use USPS because arrival times are never given and no way to find out. Second is damage is more likely with USPS than any other shipper in my experience. So AMSOIL using UPS or Fedex is a WIN in my book! I'll cheerfully pay for that privilege.

I haven't bothered checking again to see what the shipping charges are but I went back to the thread I started to see if I was in the ballpark or my memory was that far off. Filter and shipping was $54.00, $42 for the filter and $12 for shipping. I know that was accurate because I started that thread right after leaving Amsoils website to see if there were any other options.

WOW 8 bucks. This is why I hate Yelp. Some people are never happy. Amsoil aint makin' any money on shipping, and they probably don't keep smaller boxes around because nobody has made an order that small. They probably lost money on that order because it was so small, but somebody still had to take the time to package the thing. this forum is a no whining zone, and you are not likely to find sympathy for insignificant things here.

They don't make money on shipping because their business model has them making tons of $$ on everything else. It's halfway decent stuff, but Amsoil has a huge marketing machine to pay for, and it's reflected in their prices.
