Another Bird Question....

In February the Dr reattached two detached ligaments. The stainless steel anchors have come out and one is "floating" inside the ankle joint.

Anyone with a medical background tell me how bad it is?

Did you get the extended waranty with this?

Seriously, is there any recourse of having the Dr re- fix it?

Are the ligaments healed back into place? if so can just the pin be removed or do the ligs need re- attaching?

I had ligament surgery with pins but only in the shoulders (both done 6 mos apart. ) I have not heard of any thing like this.

Good luck- keep us posted.

Nope, both ligaments have retracted are no longer attahced on one end. I'm back where I started except for the extra steel parts.

He wants to reattach both again, I'm not so sure...

I just want the steel in the joint removed before more damage is done.

I'll find a new Dr next winter.

That looks like it hurts! Just remember, when bombing, you are your own warrenty station! :-laf Seriously, I hope it works out. Ankles are a bear to get put back together when things go catastophic.

It's a wild world we live in that we can BOMB our own body parts. My guess (not supported by any medical education whatsoever) is that, so long as you're not getting any pain from the steel pieces now, they can float around in there indefinitely without causing any particular problems - they're no different really from shrapnel and I know doctors will sometimes leave that in there. They might even work their way out on their own eventually. That said, if a new doctor is going in there to work on things, I'd have him yank the extra parts while he's in there.

Was camping (at Walmart :-laf) in Wyoming in November 3 years ago, went to bed after a day of shorts and tank tops. Woke up and went outside and slipped on the ice :{

Wasnt expecting that. The injury wasnt any where near as bad as what the Dr did to me :-{}
