my friend has a 92 w-250 4x4 and we've turnin the pump up and doesn't help much i think he needs some better injectors. any thoughts on what too get and where, also he's got a very tight budget right now. he's got gauges,16 cm housing. :{

City diesel has power wagons for 275. 00 also. I have never dealt with them personally so I can't say anything for or against them.

Pump rebuilt???

How many miles on the truck... ... are you sure that the VE Injector Pump just isn't wore out?

I'm certain that new injectors would also be of assistance.

When I first bought my truck no amount of "Pump adjusting" netted anything..... No even 2 PSI increase in Boost. Come to find out later that the "Fuel Rate Delivery Pin" was siezed in its bore.

This was also the problem on the other First Gen that I drive (sometimes). Both pumps were replaced by enhanced Fueled pumps for Jannetty Racing in CT.

I don't mean to be the bearer of "Bad News" ... ... I'm just suggesting that you might have to look further at the pump itself. Never good news if you're on an Budget.

Sorry... ... KEENO

tmckenzie, have you guys tried bumping up the timing, also have you made sure he is getting full travel on the throttle linkage? bill

I tend to agree with KEENO; injectors should not keep you from being able to gain power, though there are limits to everything. I am by no means an expert, but I in my experience, injectors will make smoke and noise, usually from carboning &/or low popping pressure; not operating as smoothly as possible.

PS- dont count on just mileage on the pump. I have heard of bad fuel wrecking a pump in 5 miles, or just not being a good rebuild/ replacement.

There was a thread recently on just this thing,..... pumps that do not respond to tweaking. It is a topic on one of the performance shop web sites as well.

There are just some pumps that do not seem to respond to tinkering. Others, are real touchy, like mine is... 1/4 turn too much and I'm talking smoke like a WW II naval destroyer makin a hard turn wide open... . darn queen mary... ...

Keeno makes another good point... one of the common problems with the VE is the likelyhood of a sticky fuel pin. It is known to stick in the retracted position and without it, you just won't make any HP...

BTW, I hope you're having your timing set to around 14. 5 ~ 15* advance or about 14. 5 mm lift.

That setting will help with throttle response, reduce smoke a bit, better idle, help reduce EGT's, and lay the foundation for larger injectors too. .
