I have just installed a set of DD II's along with existing BOMBS, DD UFM, Jardine Exhaust, K/N Airchanger, and guages. My truck is a 99 two wheel drive quad cab, Five speed 3500 with 4. 10 gears. With the UFM on 5 X 5, my clutch will not slip at WOT. If i am in third gear at 1800 RPM and punch it, the truck will spin the tires, shoot out a healthy dose of black smoke and take off like a rocket. It pulls much harder than before the DD II's. I figure it should have at least 420 at the rear wheels. Thanks for any input. Ken

This doesn't sound like something that I would complain about... Just give it time. It will start doing it sooner or later.

It just seems like the stock clutch should not handle this power. I talked to another TDR member today and he told me he has never seen one handle more than 675 Foot pounds of torque. I have a Southbend waiting to go in, but have no time right now. Ken

I'm running Hi flow injectors, Blue Chip FMS, and Edge EZ and didn't notice any slippage for about the first month. I've been running this combo for about 6 months now and can slip the clutch in 5th or 6th at will. Still drivable but a lot of slippage if i romp on it. Luckily I don't do any towing to speak of so I've been able to get by without replacing the clutch but plan to do so soon (Money depending). This combination is close to 400 RWHP based on other trucks dyno results with the same setup.

Give it time, it'll slip.

Try Hooking Up to My 5ver!

I know of two fellow TDR and LSTDR members with ETH/DEE's who have gone with the EZ and 275's/DD1's respectively. Both have slipped their clutches while towing heavy loads. That's why I'm putting off the DD2's until I'm ready to install a South Bend clutch at the same time.

The weakest link will give first....

Actually, if your tires are breaking loose, that's why you aren't slipping your clutch.

It's whatever gives first, and in your case, it's tire slippage.

Put it in 5th gear at do the same thing.

It will be much less likely to break traction, and will be a better test of the clutches holding power. 3rd gear isn't a good gear to do this in.

I agree with you Shawn. My PE Comp alone will slip the clutch in 4th and 5th gears when on level 5 regardless of the "smoke" setting.

I'm thinking I need to order a SouthBend to have on hand then this thing does eat itself up. This is more fun than anyone should have in a truck!

Duane

4th and 5th it has not slipped yet either. I will be getting the Southbend installed within the next few weeks, so I will just enjoy and stop worrying. Ken

these are probably not bragging rights... rather tell tale signs of not as much power as you think you have :D

keep in mind, with four rear tires you actually have less (unloaded) traction, than a SRW truck would have.

put it in fifth, stuff the throttle at 1600rpms and let us know what it does. the torque should over come the clutch.

My stock clutch held 334/829 at the DFW dyno day. I smoked the clutch real bad one day, now the thing holds. Go figure.

My 2001 ETH with just the PE EZ slips the clutch empty. Do I have a weak clutch? (20,000 miles on the stock clutch with no towing. )

I put in a south bend CON-fe a couple weeks ago. Had very minimal problems with the clutch slipping under load with 275s and ez. With the addition of the comp it would slip a little more. With 36k on the truck the clutch looked like it would have gone at least 100k without power mods.

Moody you probably do have a weak clutch as mine had no problems at your power level.
