The cruise control cable is fraying right where the exposed braided wire exits the plastic sheething and hooks onto the throttle lever on the driver's side of the engine. About 1/2 of the small braided wires are worn into.
I'd like to replace just the cable (as opposed to an entire new cruise unit).
Doe anyone have any tips or ideas for individual parts or fixes that woluld work?
Thanks
- Ben
PS. I thought of soldering the cable, but the final diameter would have to be identical to the strong wire in order to slide back into the plastic sheething.
I also thought of splicing the cable with a new clamp-on end, but again, that won't work because it has to fit into the plastic sheething.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
