I wanted something different from the usual A pillar installation. Anyone else ever do it like this? Looks factory

So, I sacrificed my cheap am/fm cassette radio. Removed the plastic facia, built a plate for it, cut 2 1/16 inch holes, composite bonded new flat black plate to radio facia.

Plan to put new CD changer fm radio under drives seat. Remote will be mounted either on console or on floor pedestal.

Now have 3 VDO vision gauges where radio used to be. Perfect place for mounting gauges, with plenty of room and easy maintenance.

Boost, fuel pressure, trans temp, Pyrometer, clock.

going to put clock where Genos plate is installed in that rightmost empty hole area.

Have boost gauge on column.

used Green lens caps to match factory gauges. Need to do boost yet.

I think it looks good. It would take some time to get used to looking over to the right to look at the gauges. I'd get used to it though. I like where the boost gauge is too.

That looks really good. I thought about either doing that same thing or moving the air ducts above the radio. I just couldn't figure out a good place to move the ducts or the cd player too. Anyhow, nice work. Let us know how the stereo works out.

Nice work...

Is your fuel pressure guage electric or mechanical?

What is the psi range on the fuel pressure guage?

Got a website that shows VDO guages?

thanks

VDO

www.egauges.com has excellent prices on VDO gauges.

I like the vision series thru gauge lighting.

The vision pressure gauge is a 0 to 30 psi gauge. It is mechanical. It is not hooked up yet. I was going to install an isolator, but just am not pleased with that idea. I will probably hook directly, and use a needle valve for shut off in the event of leakage.

I will probably run solid copper tubing with compression fittings, and I may run the copper

inside another plastic tubing as a backup for any leakage...

I seldom used it. My previous Jag had a cd changer, and that is pretty much all I used.

My truck only had a cassette player, so a radio change was mandatory.

Went to a car audio shop prior to commiting to this setup, and the remote control costing about $60 seemed a very good choice. Mounting a radio with cd changer under drives seat also seems ideal. I'm tired of stuff in back floor board area rolling under my seat and into my feet and peddles anyway.

To give you an idea, the remote is about $60 and Sony has a nice head unit for about $189.

My point being, if you are anticipating sound upgrades, this is a very good option for gauges.

Robert, I did something close to that. I took out the 2 vents that are right above your gauges, pluged the vents at the fire wall to get air blowing out other vents. I also used the blank plate from a stereo shop and fix it to the bezel. I had a car accident from a piller that was too big and T-boned a small mini van with a 26K truck that ran a stop sign. The lady said she did not see me a 35' truck.
