Well if any of you are interested in reading this garbage. Took my truck to my so called 5 star dealer today for service( CROWN DODGE IN VENTURA CA. ). Like a fool I purchased the extended warranty which came with 8 free oil changes, the only reason I'm still going there. I have had nothing but bad luck with their careless mechanics and runners, we're talking about dents, closing there garage door on my roof, leaving my truck with windows down in their dirt field out back, etc. etc. etc. . When I picked up my truck today and drove home It sounded a little funny, I mean my turbo was louder than ever. I live about 15 miles from there. When I got home and opened the hood, guess what no air intake hose from my air box to my turbo, it was laying down inside the engine compartment. Phoned them at 10min to 5:00 to speak with the service manager, they played phone tag with me for 20min then the girl came on and said it was after 5:00 and they went home. I told her that it would be best to talk to someone NOW!!! All of the sudden the manager was back to work. He said he would make a note of it, and it won't hurt the turbo to suck in that dirty air. Now for one last comment to piss you all off, on my last visit for warranty work I had mentioned that I'm a TDR member and I had learned alot about my truck on the internet, The service rep said "The people on the internet are self diagnosing their trucks and know nothing about what they're talking about, leave the diagnosing up to us and not the garage mechanics". OH excuse me, sorry this was so long. Could this have damaged my turbo at such a short distance? Thank's to all. :D again

I would think that any time your engine is running without filtration, you stand the chance of foreign objects entering. Even sand and dust could affect the longevity of your engine. No foreign object in the intake is good for it. I would ensure that their goofup is well documented... you may need it further down the road.

On the other hand, years ago in my auto class, some people would run rags thru the intakes, and come spitting out the tailpipe. Those cars seemed to go forever.

As a caution tho... go down there and have them print something out that states the problem... otherwise, they may deny it when you need it.

I used to live in SB county and know for a fact that Crown Dodge sucks! I never had my truck in their shop, but their knowledge said it all to me.

Has anyone seen a Dodge dealer that wasn't 5 star? makes you wonder how they get them stars. I quess all they need to do is hang out a Dodge sign and the five star rating comes with it.

yes my dealer isnt 5 star. I dont think anyway. I think it has more to do with the amount of good feedback they get. You know from those little forms they send out. If its a smaller dealer, not too many people will fill out the paper... and even if they all do... it might not be enough to get the 5 star. My dealer is great. we are getting a Jeep for my mom this week. I couldnt talk her into a Ram though. . but i tried.

poor dealer

Don't feel like the lone ranger, I took my 01 Dodge to Redwood City Dodge for warranty to repair a leaking rear axle seal (showed up at 50 miles) , since I had a scraped hubcap on the right side and a dent on the tail pipe... (scraped the high curb at my kid's school, and backed into a rock in my driveway) warranty was rejected.

These geniouses figured that a leaking seal on the left rear was caused by this "obvious impact" on the right side of the truck! So I went home, pulled the right rear wheel & hub to find a scratch and burr on the stub shaft obviously caused by a careless assembly worker in Mexico. I dressed the burr, moved the seal in about 3 mm in the hub and no more leak!

Its too bad that the dealers have gotten so greedy, this service manager figured he could get my insurance to pay for this! My agent is a car guy and friend and would never go for this kind of scam.

Medicummin,

CROWN DODGE IS THE WORST, BAR NONE!

I first went to see them with cash in hand to purchase my truck. They said " you cannot order that truck anymore, But gee whiz we might sell you our lot queen"

Then I need to get get the console box replaced," We can get that part but let's wait 4 weeks before we order it.

Bring the truck in to get work done w/ the wife. The service writer ignores her and her questions. The yard boy jumps into the truck before the work order is complete (signed) and spins the tires leaving. I chase the truck to the back of the lot where I find a mechanic with the hood up removing parts. I inquire just what are you repairing? He advised me that customers were not welcome in the back lot. I advise him to come with me to the managers office. He backs off and asks who I am and procedes to tell me they need "parts to repair" SOMEONE ELSE'S TRUCK AND TOMORROW HE WILL REPLACE MINE W/NEW! So he was planning to strand me! WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR SIGNATURE!

B. S. Do not patronize CROWN Dodge... I called DC corporate wrote letters jumped up and down... To no avail... AND they are still"FIVE LIE DEALERS"

Rich Whites (805) 486-4849 Call me Dodge, Oh Please call me!

PS they also chipped the paint on the hood and the console box won't open properly.

Great White,

If a mechanic at a Dodge dealer told me he was taking parts off my truck to put on somebody else's. I would of found the nearest phone not belonging to the dealer and dialed 911 and had the mechanic and anyone else I could booked(including the owner).

mediccummin,

I don't think they will admit the next day or give to you in writing but it is worth a try.

If you were driving where sand could be sucked in blades could receive some damage and as also stated is not good for engine.

Best thing to do bring camera with you that has date/time look at truck before you drive away from dealer. If something is wrong than take photo and document in note book. I would document this incident and take photo of turbo and hose if you have not attached it.

thanks

Thanks everybody for the comments and suggestions. I'm going to write a letter to the BBB and to chrysler. Great White did you still want to see my gauges? Just to get a couple more things about this crappy place off my chest. When truck was new they took it out back to wash it for me and put 2 golf ball size dent's in it on hood and cab, then had it for a week in body shop. Last trip for front dif blowing oil all over right side of truck they, what appears, is lifted it to high on there lift right into the ceiling. I also had a rim damaged while in body shop appears they spilt something on it and tried to wipe it off, took the shine off and pitted it, how did they replace it on the 6th trip back, they went out on the lot and took one off another truck and put my bad one on the new truck. I could go on and on all night, imagine this and I've only had the truck 10 mths. See ya Dwayne:mad:

My dad had a similar thing happen at a Jeep dealer in the Vancouver, WA area. My mom's GC has an extended warranty and there was leak from the auto transmission. The dealer noticed the leak, notified my dad & proceeded to fix it under warranty. Doing the right thing - very good. Dad gets the GC home and it's making funny noises. Figures out that the transmission is 2 Quarts low on fluid. Notifies dealer - dealer says bring it in. After a few back & forths the dealer has their best transmission guy pull the pan & inspect what can be inspected - everything looks okay. Thru 'negotiation', dealer(& DC) adds an additional 25k miles to the transmission portion of the extended warranty, in writing, due to their screw up.

Mechanics/dealers make mistakes - the good ones can say they screwed up and make amends.

Five star dealer

I was told by my dealer, Campbell Dodge Jeep, in Centrailia Wa. That they are not a five starr dealer because the building has to meet certain requirements. The bathrooms have to be handicapped accesable and the waiting rooms must have all the ammenitys ect. They gave me the impression that service or customer satisfaction had nothing to do with being a 5 star dealer. Anyway I have had very good luck with them. Go figure.
