Fdavid, No TST on this one. I had a TST pm3 comp on the '01 that I totalled.

If I would have known that dodge would do this, I'da just drove it up to Cincy, the took it to Kings Dodge (thats where I bought it).

Yep, that semi flys. Driver paid out of his own pocket for dual 7" straights. It shakes our building now.

been thinking about the Pittsburg power box for it. Driver would love that :D

Update!!

After going back and forth with the dealer, They finally agreed to talk to Cummins about my concerns with the motor. Cummins told them to ckeck oilpressure cold, and hot, and to check turbo endplay at both points as well.

They called back today and stated that there is excessive play in the turbo, and there is a faint knock in the motor.

As of yesterday, I was to drive down there this weekend and recover the truck. Today I was told that I may want to wait as they are gonna look into the problem further. I think they are gonna pull the pan.

I would have taken around the block and rev it as hard as possible while it was still cold until it let loose. Now you're likely to get a set of bearings and a turbo, as they have the "OPTION" to fix the existing powerplant before R/R ing the engine completely, I know, I used to have to tell customers this when I sold my sole for few months as a service writer. If you have the chance and the time, go to the dealer and tell them you want to see the damage prior to it being put back together. Ask if you can have a cummins dealer inspect the truck before they take anything apart, Pay the tow bill if neccessay, but get it inspected before they band aid it back together. Do not authorize any repairs without your prior approval so you know what they are doing first.

Hope you get treated right on this in the end, good luck.

Update !

Dealer called today, they said come and get it. evidently, they found no damage and documented everything with star. I am gonna go get it probably on Sunday. I hope it makes it back to Cincy.

I'd hope it makes it no further than the next dealer and blows up. Unless you get rid of vehicles before the warranty runs out, I would not keep it unless tha engine was R/R'ed. Give it an exercise with a few hard loaded pulls and heavy RPM rides this next week and listen for any additional rattle. Hard to detect bearing knock in a cummins as they are so loud in the first place. Don't be surprised if your truck just sat for a week and nothing was done to it other than oil change and time away from your eyes. It is the oldest customer complaint "remedy" service departments know. Let it sit, they'll shut up in a few weeks.

Got my truck back today

Just got home from Knoxville, TN. The truck ran good, and I ran her hard.

THe #4 injector did fail, but not in the cylinder. The service order says it was spraying fuel right onto the underside of the rocker cover (they removed it and ran the engine and watched it spray up)

I am glad it wasn't washing down the cylinder.

I checked the oil when I got home and it was good, no fuel smell.

I just hope there is no real rod/mains damage

Glad to see you got your truck back. Hope it works out. A question from a first time real diesel owner. ( had a converted GM back in 1978. ) Is there anyway to tell if an injector is going bad or does it just happen all at once?

It happened all at once. The fuel guage started dropping right before my eyes. I was low, and that last 1/4 don't last long anyways. It is the first time I have got 35 gallons in the tank, without issue. That is how low it got.
