Giachino,

I know all about Hasselbach! He's the one who boasted about having the Hottest Viper around, but when it came to putting his money and car where his mouth was, he was all BS! Hasselbach didn't show! :-laf Which figures!

We have had run in before, just his nature, all BS!

Hasselbach, another thing, If you are going to quote me, quote me! Here is what I said!

"Just for helping me refine this mount, what would you suggest? Your expertise is appreciated. "

Beleive me, "expertise" was tongue & cheek! Remember, I know you!

Well, here we go again. Here is the options, you can keep it to the orignal subject or I will close the thread.

Thanks

Brandon

hasselbach,

I just spoke with Robin (TDRADMIN) and she reminded me that you have been suspended before for just the same type of behavior. I just sent a pm to you. So please check your messages.

Thank you

I'd like to apologize to the forum for my remarks to Hasselbach, unfortunately, we had had words before. I was hoping that after my reply to his post, he would have just left it alone. Sorry

Anyway, anybody have any suggestions for this mount. Like I said I am going to shorten the length to reduce the pivoting leverage from the Attitude monitor. Double side tape should definately hold it then.

Any way possible of bending / forming the bracket where the Attitude Monitor bracket could be attached behind the radio bezel, and be viewable slightly left of the radio itself ?

Greg
I know what your thinking Greg, something like what http://www.panavise.com/ and http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/ does with cell phone mounts. Pop off the center bezel and screw the mount to the left side radio screws then snap the bezel back on.

Those kind of mounts look nice and blend in well when painted black.

Those 2 companies only make brackets for the right side but worth mentioning if Big Bob hasn't seen those for ideas on a left side mount.

Matt and Greg,

I have a "Pro-Fit" for my XM radio. I feel that the material used by Pro-Fit is not strong enough. My XM bounces around and is not stable. The material I am using on this mount is at least twice as thick as the material used on the Pro-Fit.

The reason I mounted my Attitude on the left of the steering wheel is because it is very convienent to use my left hand to change settings. My arm usually rest on the window/door sill and my left hand is either on the steering wheel or real close to the Attitude monitor. If it were on the right, for those with 6-speeds, it would not be as convienent.

Anyway, I know how the Pro-Fit mounts, I just haven't taken the time to see if I can do this on the left side of the steering wheel. One other thing is with the Pillar gauges, it is really easy to see all the gauges in one place, rather that look in two or three places.

Thank guys, I appreciate your input.

One thing about those kind of cell mounts you will find is the Pro-fit comes through the dash on the horizontal plane (3rd gen mount) where the Pana-vise mount comes through on the vertical. This makes a big difference on stability of the bracket.

I like your ideas Big Bob, makes for easy install and removal if needed.

Would any of these cell phone mounts work to install a gauge pod? I have the SPA rail pressure gauge (thanks Matt400 for the homework!!) with a pod, but don't want to drill / screw into the dash. Velcro or double sided tape doesn't have the holding power.

I already have a dual Westach gauge (EGT/boost) on the SRT10 A-pillar (I want to keep the grab handle) and a dual steering wheel pod so these spaces are taken.

I don't want to buy the cell phone mount to just try it, but if someone has one and can confirm that it would work I would really appreciate it!

-Thanks-

Looking at some of those cell phone mounts on the computer screen suggests lots of holes on the mount itself to bolt the pod to so that I could get the right angle...
They do and Pana-Vise has other pieces that mate to the main piece for different angles and positions but I am not sure how they would work for you.

I was looking at your album and what you have looks real nice so its hard to suggest but. . what about selling off your column gauges and put your SPA in there? Channel 2 on your SPA will take care of your oil pressure and then you would need to get another SPA like maybe a DG216W for the other hole that will do your Low side fuel pressure and also boost to monitor drive pressure?

I had a SPA on the A pillar and wanted a couple more gauges then looking ahead saw I might end up with un matched gauges so bit the bullet and did 3 SPA's in an overhead pod for 6 gauges.

If I were in your shoes and felt 5 was all I would want then a natural choice would be 2 SPA's on the column and a single EGT on the Pillar or those same 3 in an overhead pod. That of course costs a bunch more starting over!!

An un expensive move would be to use your SPA as a tester rather than a permanent fixture, just "T-tap" a connection that you can easily plug and un-plug when you need it and just lay it inside the truck for your tests.

After having a rail pressure gauge mounted I found the only time I ever wanted to look at rail pressures was when testing various boxes to see what they did to my rail pressures. After having done all that on my 03 I am not so sure I even want something that increases rail pressure on my 05 cuz its pressures stock are already more than the 03 was.

Matt-

Thanks for "thinking out loud"! - the above might be just what I was looking for. I picked the black gauge face and bullet mount because I suspected that I would be in this predicament and therefore this color would allow for the best "blending in". The difference between when I purchased the SPA and now is that I added a Dash Mat that precludes the direct mounting of the mount to the horizontal dash!

The other SPA channel was going to be for turbo drive pressure because I have some unknown curiousity to measure this on my SPS66 turbo after seeing that graph in the latest DLeno article. The rail pressure monitoring was because of all these fuel system problems I've been having lately and being "blind" to what's really going on and having to make an educated guess so to speak.

Unfortunately, I do not want to give up the manual oil and fuel pressure gauges because I do like this style better for these purposes. (And I already spent the money doing this!) What would be really nice is that if we could get a factory dual a-pillar mount with the handle.

Well I just had a revelation... the black/slate gray Dash Mat is held on to the dash with velcro. I noticed my Attitude monitor comes with some pretty hardcore looking velcro. I wonder if I could sew a strip of velcro to the top of the mat and the mating piece stuck to the mount base to hold the mount to it next to the A-pillar? I could also use a small inconspicuous piece of velcro on the side of the mount against the a-pillar and... voila... it will not rattle around, is not screwed in anywhere, and will blend in good!

Thats a neat idea too, one other thing I was thinking is that I found those dash mats are pretty durable to cut a slit with a razer blade and not un ravel. You could mount the pod base to the left corner of the defroster grate, that piece is snapped in BTW. Then just make a small slit for the mount to stick through the mat.

Only thing is it will set farther back than your last idea.

I like your idea even better! The heat shouldn't hurt the gauge ? or maybe I can fab up something that clamps to the defrost grate and then goes through the defrost hole on the mat to offset the gauge...

Edit: I wonder if the same could be done for the Attitude mount just to get this thread back on track! Sorry!
