Well I decided after reading alot her to install a bypass system on my new truck. I decided on the oilguard system and called MTM on July 15 to place the order so I could get the 10% discount. I ordered the system with 6 extra filters, 6 full flow filters, and upgraded braided hoses.

They said it would probably ship Monday July 17th and I said that was fine.

My card was billed on the 17th but as of today the 24th I have not see a shipment arrive. I called to find out the status and am now told they are on backorder and will most likely ship the end of this week.

Now I did not cancel the order as I still want the system. However, If they have not shipped by end of week I will cancel.

My Dislikes. .

1) They told me it would ship the 17th (following monday) knowing full well they were backordered.

2) They did not ship but billed my card anyway.

3) Did not contact me to verify that if they were backordered did I want to keep the order.

4) I dislike their business model if I am the norm and probably will not take them at their word anymore.

Well here is the followup...

I called today since my backordered order was promised to be shipped last Friday.

I was told that it was still on backorder and that It should ship mid to end of the week. Here we go again.

I asked that my credit card be refunded and the order canceled.

Another odd thing on the card was the total order of 407. 00 and a second seperate charge for 10. 00. Still do not know what that 10. 00 chg was for.

The amazing this was they called back about an hour later to inform me that they could ship the order tommorrow if I didn't want to cancel. Hmm backordered.

I declined and instead will get an alternate system even if it costs me more money.

All of this would have been a moot issue if

1) they had not charged my card till they shipped

2) had told me it would be backordered for a couple of weeks.

Your mileage may vary but I no longer felt comfortable dealing with them especially since I was going to be dependent on them for consumables.

I will be glad I dropped the oilguard folks or I will be glad I am putting a bypass system on?

IF there are issues with oilguard let me know here, in a PM , or via email at -- email address removed --.

Reason I am asking is they ended up not canceling the order but overnighting it that day so it arrived Tues. I am still half ticked off that now they didn't even cancel when I told them to. They must be hard up for money. I haven't returned it yet since I figured I got it. IF you have specific issues I should know about let me know before I install the system. .

Thanks, Steven

I made that statement based on my past experiences and giving the places with questionable tactics another shot. I've never delt with oilguard and I'm a big fan of bypass systems.

You're having second thoughts and there's probably a good reason for it - it's called self preservation. I'd at least give them a call and get the scoop on your situation. I've been down this road with other vendors over the years (no diesel folks yet) and made choices I wish I hadn't. They may have a valid reason for the situation. Or not.

The ball's in your court, good luck.

I also totally believe in the oil bypass filtering systems. I have a RACOR oil bypass system. OilGuard is a knockoff of the RACOR I think. I chose RACOR because that is what they do internationally and is their main business an has an impeciable reputation.

I got the LFS802 bypass. I tend to go BIG and that size might be a little large for you, but I would rather go big than too small.

The only thing I did to modify mine is to have a 1/4 npt bung welded to the bottom of the cannister so you can drain the cannister to change the filter and not have a problem of spilling a brim full canister.

I really like my RACOR and would highly recommend it. International manufacturer, excellant reputation, industrial quality for heavy duty applications.

I got mine from SouthEast Power Systems in Tampa www.se-power.com. Mike Franke is the parts manager and REALLY knows his stuff and is a very straight shooter, no BS.
