My EZ is dead...

It appears to have died about the same time I put it back on the truck after getting the truck back from the dealer. I made my whole trip to Monterey and back, towing, without it. Man, that sucked.

I have email into HVAC, since I got it from him, but it's been two days and no response. Will Edge do a quick exchange on it? I really don't want to drive my truck again until I get one that works on it again. #ad

Rob - Call Edge and I am sure they will take care of you. I had one of the stumbling Power Edges and HVAC called Bret for me. . two days later I had a new PE and a return (paid) shipping label from edge. I could not believe that they did not even make me send the broken one in to get the replacment. That is why I will buy from them again, A1 customer service.

I think HVAC must be busy making $$$ to bomb his truck, he has not responded to my emails either... . a guy has to work once in a while.

The very first one Edge sent me was deader than a rock. Called 'em up, they UPS'd me a replacement that day with a return lable for the defective one. I not only judge product but also service. I think Edge has a good balance of both. If it was designed and made by a human, sooner or later, you are going to have trouble with it. How it is handled from there is the real test... ... ..... and does'nt it just make you wake up and think when you have to drive around for a while without the benefit of a little magic box!!!! I like my EZ and I am going to start stocking them in my dealership.

A really quick way to see if your 'EZ' is working good is to just disconnect the 'Data- Linc' plug on the 'EZ' the next time you check your oil, and take it for a test drive.
I did this today, and it felt like a Volkswagon Diesel #ad

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner Rob. I have a Ram in my yard that blew the transmission this weekend. Been consumed with this crisis. Looks like we are going to replace the whole transmission with a DTT rebuilt. Anybody reading this please note, don't install a aftermarket torque converter without an upgraded valve body to hold the power. This transmission received a new Suncoast tc just 5 months ago but it fried the clutches since the recommendation at the time was not to worry about the valve body and line pressures.

..... not so RobG, after I talked to Brett (of Edge Products) about my DD TTPM, he commented that I too would have to send my "old" unit back to them before they would ship out the new one. What's up with that? #ad
DD didn't require I ship them the "old" one (or even suggest it) when I had trouble with the first TTPM I received (and second one too). Brett is correcting the programming of all future TTPMs and EZs based on the condition I currently have. Maybe they should take a lesson from Bill Kondolay in what REAL customer service is all about... or DD for that matter. All I can say is, I hope this is not a new policy based on previous customers who may have taken advantage of their generous exchange policy. I know one thing, I had to call Edge at least four times over a period of at least three months until they finally sent me a return shipping label that I was originally promised (that was not included with my replacement "hot" PE ... which is part of the $49. exchange fee).

You're right on the transmission bit. I ran the BD extra-tight TC in my '96 for a few months before putting in the VB. Might be related to why my transmission let go a year later.

Well, I guess I was wrong... when it came right down to it Edge sent me out a replacement DD TTPM with the modified fueling program WITHOUT having to send in my "old" one first (and this was not the result of a request or whining or *****ing by me). Thanks Erin, you restored my faith in Edge's level of customer service. #ad

I am now 100% certain that I am not meant to have anything resembling good customer service with any products related to my truck (which is turning out to be a POS too).

I just got off the phone with Edge. They don't even know for sure if they got my EZ that I sent out last Wednesday. I was in the middle of giving them my address so that they could overnight a new one so it'd arrive on Friday, when we got cut off. Now I call, and I get voicemail.

I give up. If the thing ever shows up, it's for sale. EZ for a 2001 truck. Email me if you want it. No, I'm not kidding.

Followup:

Somebody actually comes through!! Now I've gone from typically ****** to impressed.

Brett from Edge saw my post here last night and put two and two together. He doublechecked what the guy I spoke to yesterday on the phone apparently couldn't find, and emailed me the tracking numbers to the replacement EZ!

It's confirmed that it was delivered yesterday (I'm working down in Santa Clara this week and will return tomorrow at midday). I had left instructions for the friend working on my house to call me if any packages arrived, but he apparently didn't. That's when I called Edge last night to follow up.

So... it's nice to see a place be able to respond when they see a problem.
