is to have a truck that can "get you there" instead of not.

The ol' 97 with the new Blumenthal transmission lost the transmission again in less than 60 days and less than 5,000 miles. This truck has NOT been driven hard at all with the new transmission. Just seems to be routine with our CTDs.

It gave my 17 yr old fits while he was traveling cross country with 2 horses and then toasted the next day with Marshall, stranding him for a LONG time and forcing me to buy a plane ticket home.

I'll be nice, I promise. Just sometimes wonder what it is like to go on the road without carrying extra cash for tow trucks and repairs and such!

Blumenthal transmission

Don't know about your "Blumenthal transmission " but I feel your pain when it comes to transmissions! I just had a new DTT Transmission installed & WOW!:D

I hope it all works out for you. There are all sorts of good transmissions out there & I hope you get one!

What broke this time??

I have read your previous post about the trouble you have had it doesn't sound like your havin much fun. Are you tracking the trans problems? maybe it will lead you in the direction of a permanent fix, it may be caused by other things. Good Luck!!

Thanks

for empathizing. Im really ready to solve the breaking trannies issue.

Marshall spent a long time on the side of the road waiting for rescue and I spent about 20 hours in the El Paso airport before someone could make the 400 mile roundtrip to get me.

My friends and family must cringe and want to duck and run when I call!!! LOL

Blumenthal

Bringing this back to the top to make sure it is understood that we are NOT badmouthing Blumenthal Mfg in any way. It has been brought to my attention that this thread could be interpreted in that manner.

The folks at Blumenthals have been fantastic to work with and we really appreciate their helpfulness.

My frustration is with having the 2 CTDs broken down this year and not having the money to fix them in a timely manner.

Please accept my apology to any who may have taken this the wrong way.

Thanks,

Karen

If this thread is seen as negative to Blumenthal, somebody has WAY too thin a skin. If you have work done by somebody, only to have problems with it right down the road, it is perfectly fine to air your discontent.

People are so quick to take offense, in my view if you provide a service to somebody and get bad publicity for a poor job, it should motivate you to do better next time. But we are so lawyerized in this country that people are reluctant to say anything negative, or even allow others to post negative accounts on their websites etc, for fear of liability. For example, in our local newspaper you are allowed to print a "Cheer" giving a business name if you are happy. But if you are angry and want to post a "Jeer", you are not allowed to give the business name.

Can you post some details of what happened with the transmission, failure symptoms etc, so others who might have work done by the company in the future can be alert for similar problems?

Well said Mr. Ellis

Pass the soapbox my way!

If you paid your hard earned cash for something that came up short, you have all the right to raise hate and discontent. And apologizing for someone else's short comings, even if it was done as a favor, thats bad. If it would have worked, you wouldn't have had to say anything in the first place. IMHO flame on.

Karen I PMed you yesterday

Details (LONG)

Y'all are very kind.

Details. . Lost my job about 1 1/2 years ago so things are real touchy. Needed to make some money so I was hauling my horses to promote them and get some of them sold. 99 CTD lost the transmission and clutch with 5 horses in the trailer about 170 miles from home. No money to fix it. Borrowed a Ford to get home. Ford broke next day.

Truck was towed to within 75 miles of home and sat in a barn. Couldn't fix it so went to WY and borrowed my son's 97 CTD. On the way home lost the transmission! Spent several days and several hundred dollars in Roswell, NM for a temporary fix. Made it home and the next day lost the transmission for good.

My youngest son needed a truck for his summer job in NE. Borrowed money to fix the 97. Ordered a Blumenthal transmission and my cousin put it in for us on his ranch. Sent son 2 on his way.

Had a sales contract on some of my land, yippee, borrowed more money to fix 99. Shop who had it wanted $1,600 in storage fees for it!!!! They had even invoiced the finance company. Lots of work later, I finally got it from him for less than $500. Ordered another Blumenthal transmission and SBC and had a local shop put them in. Land sale fell through. YIKES!!!

Son number 2, 17 yrs old, is driving the 97 across WY with horses and the new transmission starts whining. Rough trip, but he makes it to MT. I leave TX and 23 hours later of driving straight thru by myself I make it to MT and give him my 99 and MMcLain (son 1) meets us to limp the 97 to his place to work on it and leaves me the S-10. 97 doesn't make it so Marshall spends a long time on side of road. transmission and clutch gone!

S-10 develops problems. I have to buy a plane ticket to El Paso. Spend nearly 20 hours in the El Paso Airport before someone can make the 400 mile round trip to pick me up. WHEW!!!

Anyway... my frustration was not directed towards Bumenthal Mfg. They have been very easy to work with and have said the will warranty the transmission and Peter at SBC is absolutely wonderful. Peter is restoring my trust that are really good folks around.

'nuff said??? Anybody want to loan me their CTD? LOL

Karen

Sorry to hear of the string of bad luck, especially the huge storage fee, bet you were  :(

Good idea to keep the latest printout of the TDR Travel Companion in your glove box, if you ever break down like that again there are a good number of people listed who can come help you PDQ... .

Hats off to Blumenthal and SBC, sounds like they are going the extra mile to stand behind their product. Thanks for posting the details...
