There's a lesson here.....

If you have water and ice dispensers in the door, and the ice maker stops working...don't assume that just because the water in the door works and you can hear the water valve in the back of the fridge opening as it should that the ice maker is getting water....

There are two separate valves and solenoids built into one housing....one for ice maker water and the other for door water....one can die and the other can still function....

$37.00 later and a couple hours of my time, I've got ice!!!!!:):)

Mine was always the ice maker itself. The Kenmore was getting old and I think I bought 3 over the 20ish years. It was a project at times finding a replacement as numbers changed and there are quite a few different models. The replacement was easy, 1 5/16 screw and a plug.

True that, part number on mine (Kenmore / Whirlpool) changed about 6 times.......

But I'm a Parts guy and it's normal as designs and vendors change....

Now that is funny, I'm going through the same thing. Water dispenser works, ice doesn't. Ordered a new valve assembly a couple days ago...weekend project for me.

Actually our GE Cafe is US made, does the water and ice, measures off cold water AND makes HOT water. It even has a USB to upload pictures and does a slide show through the display.
My only complaint is that it drones real loudly, especially in the AM when it's quiet in the house.

Our ice dispenser went tango uniform last week. Between the garden, the orchard, and getting the camper ready for summer it's been pushed down on the priority level just a wee bit.
For the time being the wifes soup ladel is pulling double duty with dispenser duties
