I will be giveing them a call in the morning!

Where besides a cummins distributer can I buy the Fleetgaurd filter? Closes cummins place is 30 miles away. Mail order would be allot easier.

Yea, the problem was a combination of using Netscape w/ a slow dial-up connection. I tried it w/ Internet explorer on a T-1 connection, and they came right in and was able to see the label.

Hey thanks again for the info. Nice setup. Have been trying to decide which way to go on the filter, and this looks like something that can stay around for awhile.

I called outerwears, and they are temporarily out of stock on the pre wrap, but put in an order for the next batch. They said they expect them sometime in about a week.

Okay, finally got the beast installed in Baby Huey today, not much time to test, here's what I've seen so far...

Normal driving around town... about a 100F reduction in pre-turbo egts's compared to the RE0880. It's actually about 150F less, but in all fairness to the K+N, it had 15,000 miles on it. I just noticed recently that my egt's were climbing about 50F above what I normally observed, no doubt due to the K+N needing a cleaning.

I did a short WOT run from a stop, boost psi's are the same, seems to spool up quicker, egt's were about 100F less than the K+N when clean.

On the way home tonight, I climbed the hill back into the lake and observed that the egt's were staying around 700F. These would normally be around 800F, when the K+N was new.

Turbo spool up is somewhat better/less lag outta the hole.

No problem fitting it in with the HX40.

More to follow. I'm hoping to take a good WOT run up the 17% grade in town tommorrow, if time permits.

The K+N was pretty filthy, alot of seeds/debris that probably got sucked in during the fall. As soon as it dries from the cleaning, I will re-oil same and replace for a better comparison.

How much is Outerwears asking for their per-filter? Just curious. I'm about to take the plunge and order a Wix filter so I can jump in and install me a BHAF,,,,Gawd I love spending money..... :D

question

Sorry about this guys but I missed this whole BHAF subject when it first started. What does BHAF stand for. All I can figure is Big Honking Air Filter, or Big Humping Air Filter. Can someone please enlighten me? I feel so deprived. Or is it depraved?

Thanks, John

John, you got it right BHAF=Big Honkin Air Filter.

I did 3 short WOT runs today, took it up to 40 psi's of boost on the first and 45 psi's both times on the 2nd/3rd. Still good to go, about 100F below the K+N, when new. Guess the real test will be when the outside temps. go up and it's sucking in more hot air. I plan on leaving it on until I do my next oil change/analysis. If nothing else it may be a good choice for the winter months.

Kinda cool, still get a good whistle thru the vents when spooling up, not as pronounced as the SAS but quite audible.

BHAF

Bigsaint, Thanks for the reply. I figured it had to be something like that. I might give it a try. I have a couple of longer trips scheduled this summer, N. C. and Fla. , so this might be a good test for any extra power/mileage benifits. Made the Fla. trip last year and I keep a good journal of events. Mileage last year was 15. 1 hauling an 1130 lance loaded up good. Motor trim was all stock except bumped timing. Again, thanks for the response.

Best regards, John
