I have an 01 3500 with DD2, HX40, comp, etc. I made my own fuel supply pump setup a couple of years ago using the Carter pump that was talked about in the TDR. Recently it has started to act weird. The pressure is usually at 14 psi. After about 30 minutes of driving the pressure will slowly climb to 28 psi. I double checked it with a different gauge. I tried removing the fuel cap thinking that maybe pressure in the tank was causing the factory return line to have a restriction, but that did not help. Has anyone else had this problem? Or have any ideas?

Thank you for the help!

Bad sending unit.

Check your fuel gauge SENDING UNIT, it my be going /gone bad.

I had a bad sending unit that registered 28psi also.

I called Geno's where I purchased it.

Brandon helped me through the process to check the ohm's when wires were unhooked. My Westach fuel sending unit was DOA.

With a new sending unit installed I found out my LP was shot at WOT

This was after I had driven with gauge saying 28psi for three months

Stupid me :(

Good luck. :)

Thank you for the idea. I verified my pressure with a mechanical gauge at really is 28 psi. Last night I changed my pump to a Holley Black pump and now have about 10 psi of pressure and it drops to 8 psi on a hard pull. I am not thrilled with the 10, but I hope it is safer than 28!

Your welcome,

I replaced the carter on the block pump also.

I installed the holly blue on the frame using Geno's relocation kit and I also have 10psi normal driving but it drops to 8psi at WOT.

Tom

PS: What is the difference between blue and black holly pumps?
