78 Crew Conversion

This isn't a dificult swap by any means. But I do want to put some of the pics up here so there is a bit of a record of my project.

This truck started as a 95 2wd 1500 Dodge with a 318.

It is now a Cummins powered, back halfed, 4 linked, tubbed, nitrous fed, caged beast.

Here is a brief pictorial history.

I stared on it about December of 05.

But, I had to let the project sit for almost a year from April 05 to LATE March 06.

It has about 4 months worth of good solid hard work in it.

You said it is street legal, do you actually plan on driving on the street much though? I would think the lack of intercooler would hinder much street driving, I mean, you can't run on NO2 forever. Not to downplay your project any, I think its sweet, just curious though...

No trailer towing, no problem.

Look at your first gen Dodges and your Ford up to 98. No intercooler there.

The lack of intercooling only comes into play at heavy throttle and this truck doesn't require heavy throttle on the street.

The truck drives just fine. As long as I'm not flat footing it then the EGTs are fine. The only problem that the truck has with street driving is ground clearance.

It has enough, but not by much.

I'm going to actually run a taller tire on the front for the street driving and crank up the coil-overs up front. So that will give me plenty.

Thats true, I suppose. Just can't see anyone having a truck like that and driving it like a Grandma:-laf That might explain my fuel mileage being so low lately... .

well, just gotta drive by the pyro... as usual... I mean, the old square body trucks didn't have intercoolers at first... I'm betting that K31 hybrid blowing through a RAYMAC head is going to a halfway decent job at keeping it cool enough to have PLENTY of fun without nitrous... a good water setup will help keep it cool as well
