I spend a lot more time searching this forum than posting on it and since I've recently been searching for radio install ideas, I figured that it was time that I finally gave something back.
On that note, I just (nearly - more on that later) finished installing a Yaesu FT-8800R into my 2003 Ram.
The parts that I used were as follows;
Radio - Yaesu FT-8800R
Antenna - Diamond SG7500A
Antenna Mount - Firestik SS-184 (needed to enlarge hole)
Coax - CK3M5
Faceplate Mount - Ram Mount RAM-B-138U-A
The install was very straight forward and (at least for now), I'll let the pics speak for themselves.
See https://rebby.com/ram.php?detail=ram0807 for the install pictures.
As you can see from the install pics I made some modifications to the mount to make the antenna stand a bit more vertical and not "lean" as much. All of this work was done using common tools (drill, bench grinder, pliers and Dremel).
I'll update the pictures once I've permanently mounted the faceplate (the mount is currently attached w/2-way tape as a test) and the radio (currently just sitting under the front seat).
Anyway, I just wanted to point out yet another option for installing radio equipment into your Ram.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
