I had a blast Friday night/Saturday morning.

The Adventure Riders set up a Hooligan Mini TT course up on Rollins Pass. I loaded up the KTM with camping gear and headed out. I got there late evening and set up camp.

We did a midnight run up the Needle's Eye Tunnel and did some dark 2-wheeling. I almost dumped the bike!

Here is a ride report on advrider.com

I am in the Olympia gear with the orange and blue Arai helmet.

Looks like fun.

I've been looking into a dual sport bike. A "do it all".

The KLR 650 looks real nice.

Comments/opinions on the KLR?

The KLR is a great thumper. I own the BMW version, the F650 GS. The KLR will do a lot! It can get buzzy on freeway speeds but can do some single track and lots of fire roads. A lot of Adventure Riders have them.

You can read a lot about them on here:

KLR owners are known as cheap *c-word*s on AdvRider but don't let that turn you away!

I've been thinking along the same lines, only with a KLX 450. It would be more dirt than street, but would move pretty good in town also. :D

XR's can be a lot of fun - I have one that I play in the yard on and also ride it behind my daughter on the trails when she's riding her 50 (makes it a little interesting and it's easier to get on/off when I have to help her).

I had a fun off road weekend too. I entered my 2nd enduro and finished this one. 71 ground miles and I felt great at the end - was wanting more. Didn't place very well (6th out of 9 in my class, 81st out of 89 in the overall) but my goal was to actually finish this one, now I can work on improving my stamina and pace.

Good job! Congratulations. I've never been a racer but those races where points don't really count are fun.

I think I need to get a 100cc bike!

I had a chance to buy a 2001 KLR 650 for $2K.

It had 3500 miles, all kinds of bags with it, a street front fender, and replacement blinkers.

It was NICE! But it did need a back tire and the muffler.

The wife jerked around with getting the $$$ from the bank for me, so when I got there with the $$$ it was sold. I literally missed it by ONE MINUTE!#@$%!

So I told her "No problem, I'll have to just get a brand new one". :-laf

They could be found for about 4K brand new if you look around.
