The engine bay in those PW's is really short. There is simply NO WAY to fit a Cummins under the hood. Besides, with NO sound insulation at all, it would be an immense amount of work to make it liveable. If memory serves, the engine bay is at least 6 inches shorter than a 6B engine, and that's without making room for a fan and intercooler.
I guess it'll just stay 318 power... Which moves the old beast around with pretty good authority anyway. With 4. 10's and a 4 speed, it doesn't even notice hills, unless I have the trailer behind it.
Speaking of the trailer, it's going slowly. I'm in a money crunch, so I've not been spending money on it.

I'm just starting work on building the cabinetry, walls, and built-in furniture. I've never done it before, so I've been looking at how regular RV's are built and then adapting, and trying to do better, especially where they've been failing.
What I really hate is the fact that straight lumber is DANG hard to get. Or, I buy it, and 3 days later it has bowed 3 inches on an 8 foot 1x4.
I sawed some stuff up a few weeks ago - ripped it to actual dimensions of 1. 5 X . 75 inch. I used most of it but had one stick left. Well, I got back to it a few days later (we had some rain), and that one left over stick was bent more than 2 and a half inches in both directions.
But, that was pine. I've noticed the cedar is MUCH more stable.
