oh i am giddy... i drove my new truck home today, after first stopping off at my local tire dealer. those 265's look so darn small under the truck, so i ordered up some 315/70/17 bfg a/t's. those things are expensive up here in canada eh... i didn't like the price he quoted me, but he is giving me a pretty good deal on trading in the OE michelins, [±$500 cdn for all 5] so i am going to be getting the bfg'f for under $1000 cdn mounted balanced tax inc. it may not be the best price around, but my tire guy is super nice and we deal with him a lot [we bring in probably $1500-$2000 in business from referals each year], so it'll even out ok [get a better deal on something next time]...
the sound of the turbo, oh how i missed it from when i had my old 6. 5TD tahoe... when i got home, i had to go get some things, so i went with the van to let the engine cool down, then when i came home, out came the silencer ring. i haven't driven it with it removed as yet, but i will on the way to work today...
it was a little weird driving this after the 1500... the throttle [engine rpm] drops much quicker between shifts on the cummins than it did on the 4. 7 v8. and the transmission is a little notchy [i can feel the gates moving the stick from side to side in neutral]. there is a little more body roll than the 1500 when doing quick moves, but it's not too bad [it'll probably be worse with the 315's under it. . ]
i am glad i have vacation for 4 days next week. i have some mopar junk to stick under this new truck [for those that remember when i won the 1500, i also recieved a $2000 cdn credit towards mopar accessories] so i have the premium running boards [the black aluminum ones] and the aluminum fuel door as well as the rear wheel well liners and molded mud flaps and ventvisors [i already put in the molded floor mats, bed protector rubber mat and locking fuel cap] i think i will wait on putting the mud flaps and wheel well liners in until the 315's are under the truck [the tires should be at my dealer on tuesday -he had 4 in stock, but they were spoken for already, and i need 5]
now, i also have to make a guard for the condensor [i think that's what it is, right behind the grill] there already is one small knee dent in it...
and maybe perform open muffler surgery :-laf to re-plumb the factory muffler inside to make it flow through [or get some flex pipe from the truck shop and straight pipe it...

wow, i think this is my longest post so far on the tdr...
