Any old powerwagon folks here?

===============================

Well, with the tragedy in NYC and WA, I needed a distraction...

I bought a 55 back in April and finally towed it home a few weeks ago.

Tonight I managed to get the beast (now named the 'Old Green Monster' vs my 99cummins Ram 'Green Monster')

So, I am not seeing any water flow and don't want to risk harming the tired engine just yet.

What is the proper procedure to prime and/or troubleshoot the water loop in these?

I had to run the starter on 12v to get enough rotation, but left all else at 6volts. The oil pressure came up whilst running and increased /decreased with RPM.

We replaced the spark plugs to be on the safe side. Filled up the radiator (seems to hold). Made sure the oil was topped off and tried to figure out the maze of tired old wiring... .

After only a few tries we were able to hold an idle with no more manual intervention.

I am pretty happy, even if there is a nice grey cloud forming in the valley from a fair bit of burning oil. . (can't have everything)

Have not attempted to move under it's own power yet. Especially since the only brake on this is the emergency brake.

Move to conversions

What a gorgeous (sp) truck. Since you've got to put a Cummins in it, you should move this post to the Conversions section!!

KK:)

found it on Ebay, they are around

Yep,

I always wanted one and when I saw it on Ebay I just had to have it.

They are all around the internet but the prices seem to be climbing like crazy.

I ran into a guy up here who transports them all over the country.

Do a search on powerwagons in google.

I've seen them from a couple hundred to 20K!!

I had one just like that when I lived in Ariz. I could pull out the throttle alittle, put it in 4 wheel low, get out and walk beside itand steer it. Couldn't be stopped. Had the origional flat 6 in it, just like my 42 business coupe. Like a dummy, I traded it for a dunebuggy.

Could not resist posting these together

Update, got it running and cooling is fine! The engine blows oil from the distributor seal but what a blast to climb rock walls with this!
