My new baby and have a problem

Just brought her home today, only one problem so far. She has a Mega Shifter and it ratcheted down to first gear and wont come out. I am not familiar with the Mega shifter at all (as far as inner workings) but have read:

1. the carpet gets in buggered up if its not trimmed back..... looks like its clear to me 2. People have gotten it out of first when stuck by turning vehicle off then shifting... . didnt work. 3. build some RPM and then ratchet up... didnt work. Im going to disconnect the cable from the trans tomorrow and see if I can reset it but something is obviously wrong, haven't seen a lot of praise for the mega shifter.

Memory come on work... use to have one iirc t-handle pulls up and shifter drops back to make it a ratchet shifter. spring loaded to the rear, slap ahead gives you 1-2 shift, slap ahead again gives you 3-4 and so on. When in the ratchet mode pull up on tee and move shifter forward to go back to normal mode. iirc in normal mode the shifter is upright and in ratchet mode the shifter is laid way back.

Yeah it has the action slapping forward, it just doesnt come out of first. When its in first or second in ratchet mode you can't lift the T-handle. Going out to disconnect it now.
