How does the HRVP 44 compare pricewise to the stock pump? It looks like I might need a new pump.

Rich

Industrial Injection has a list price of $1,100 for the standard pumps & $1750 for the hot rod pump. Triple D cut me a better price than that. Prices can vary quite a bit from different dealers so you'll have to check around to see what you can get.

Happy to hear you are enjoying it!

Take care and keep'r shiny side up!

Thanks, Josh. I do like the pump a lot. I've got nearly 700 miles on it now1300 more & I'm tapping the wire. :D

Believe me, I'll do what it take to keep my shiy side up. ;)

OK, I read about the SMARTY, but how about the difference between the Blue Chip and HRVP? Is the high performance pump worth the extra $ and is its reliability just as good as a plain VP?

I'm sure the Blue Chip pump is a good unit. You'd have to check with chip about whether it reves past 2700 rpm. Industrial Injection list prices the HRVP just a little more than Chip has his version listed & it does flow substantially more fuel.

Does yours lope when coasting up to a stop light then settle down to a smooth idle?

Just trying to figure out if I have a problem that shouldn't be there. [/QUOTE

Mine does, but I don't mind.

I don't mind that part either but there is a bit of bucking going on at low throttle input in overdrive at 45 to 49 MPH

Please tell me how they changed it out in 45 minutes again?

These boys are quick! They taught me how to remove and install the VP44 in the past, to bad they were not Triple D then, as I would have definately gone with a HRVP... now I gotta wait for this one to die so I have an excuse to upgrade! :-laf

Mr. C- that bucking is probably your converter locking and unlocking in overdrive at part throttle. Get a DTT noise filter and cover the tan/black wire going from your passenger side battery behind the alternator with tinfoil to get rid of the problem... worked for me!

It is definatly not the converter clutch cycling it is fuel related, the rpm's are steady. It starts only after the converter locks up and it will go away if I unlock the converter.

By your discription, I'd have your OD/lock up adjusted up so it doesn't come in till 55. I did that and it got rid of that problem. I think the issue is more that the engine is lugging than anything else.

JP

That would certainly help but the funny thing is this only started after I installed the HRVP44.

Hey darkhorse, sorry for the hijack.

Rich I am glad you are happy with the pump, it was a nice road trip for the 3 of us. As for the pump running past 3000rpm, it is not the Smarty doing it. I don't have a Smarty and I run to 3500 with no box even on. Same with a few other customers that I have installed the HRVP on there trucks. There is a thread in here somewhere where I describe the workings of the pump a little bit, for some of the questions asked on this thread.

Hope in the future we can help you out again, thanks Jim.

I don't think Triple D would go quite that far. You could enquire about dealers from Industrial Injection. My installation charge including the house call was $200. A pretty good value I'd say.

Hey Richard,

How are you doing?

Back to normal operation? :-laf :-laf

Good to see you back on the slippery lope again!

How far do you plan to push this new truck of yours with the BOMB's? :D

Marco

I have a Blue Chip VP with the FedEx, it is about 1. 5 years and 105,000 mi old. With the Smarty on #1 it will easily rev to 3500 under load. Don't know about withouth the Smarty, guess I could try it if someone wants me to.

Godspeed,

Trent

Hi Marco, I've been so back to what passes for normal in my life I haven't been around the forum much. :-laf My neck really started feeling good again a few months ago. I've been trying to make up for lost time ever since. ;) I don't think I'll slide much farther with this truck. My greed for speed got clipped a bit rolling over like that. :-laf . Smarty, the Mach 1. 5's & the HRVP are more than whatever clutch came with this truck can handle if I'm to heavy. What I still would like to do is swap this unbent body with the undamaged running gear on my old truck. The swap the HRVP & I'd be well over 500 hp. :D Time will tell. btw with Smarty on good old #9 I got 23 mpg towing a light camper trailer on the highway. Oo. I love my Smarty!

It would be simple enough to try That would answer the question about whether the FedEx board limits rpm.

Blue Chip removed the FedEx software and has loaded the Dodge software, the parameters are supposedly the same as the stock VP44.
