My new truck scared me

Hello All



After lurking here for a year or two I finally bit the bullet and bought new truck. Originally I was going to spec a new 6. 7 C&C... but after lots of reading (here mosty) I decided I did not want to be year one guinea pig for the new motor etc... not on a truck I will keep for 10 years... so I searched for the one I wanted al over the US

It is a 2006 5. 9 ctd/68re/st version working mans truck with options and an jake brake

I bought it at Carson Dodge and had a very pleasant experience with Tom Porter their internet sales guy... the truck was about 31,000. 00 OTD. . fees due to California



I drove it home, carefully, doing mostly the speed limit, thur the mountains... The fuel was measured very accurately... 239 miles=10. 4 gallons. . you do the math. . amazing



I am a weldor and plan to hopefully build a custom aluminum flatbed with boxes



Today for the first time I was backing it up with the door open... and the horn and emergency flashers went off scaring the crap outta me. . at first I thought great, electrical gremlins... but then I realized it was big brother telling me I was dumb...



I guess the truck IS smarter than me



Im sure Ill have lots of noob questions so please bear with me

Today for the first time I was backing it up with the door open... and the horn and emergency flashers went off scaring the crap outta me. .

I'm not sure which is worse: having the daylights scared out of you from the "warning system", or the "extreme danger" that apparently befalls anyone backing up with the door open.



I hope that's the only scare your truck gives you. Be sure to post pictures of your custom bed when you start building.

congrats on the new ride-the more you drive it the more you will like it. 2006 with 68re trans? must be a 48re... If you want to stop all that back-up rackket just jump across two wires under drivers seat belt buckle-thinks belt is pluged in.
