Clint- you need to adress what your customers are saying about lockup in all gears while accelerating. They make it sound like it isn't unlocking for the gear shifts. That will distroy the transmission no matter who builds it. What the heck do they mean? :confused:

What is happening in two weeks?

Bob, I want lockup without worry of damaging the transmission, that is my primary reason for looking at the ATS. I want the lockup for acceleration in all gears.

See my post above. Why would lockup damage a dtt transmission and not an ats? What is locking up the tc in first and second, a mystery switch?

Stefan what are you smoking???

Stefan,

Thing with Eric? Kat is doing something with ATS? Sponsership is what I want, does DTT what to give me a transmission? Will ATS give me one? I'll take either one, I was just joking around, tell us what you know.

Wrong Eric..... Stefan is refering to Eric McBride. I am not sponsered by anyone, if I were I could be a heckuva alot harder on the truck then I already am. And a whole lot more daring.

Sponsership would be nice I suppose.

Look what I started....

Well sorry for being in the dark about this, Kat I just assumed it was you, so I guess I made an a$$ out a U and ME, well me at least. It would be nice to be sponsered huh?

Yea, they are replacing my manual with an auto. I went through a couple of trannies in one week last year. Made me start thinking about autos. Not only that, but it should put me in the 12's on just diesel only. I plan on putting the truck on the dyno-doing the swap-and then dynoing again so I can get a direct comparison between the two transmissions. Should be interesting. Sponsorship is a revolving door. Yes the transmission support is phenomenal, but also as I break things (I plan on breaking plenty of pieces) then ATS is challenged to R&D better parts and pieces. Then the buying public benefits from this. We have been discussing this since the end of November when Piers put us in contact with each other. I am anxious to get out to Denver, see some friends and meet new ones. I invite everyone to come to ATS's shop March 14th to see how the swap went.

i am sponsored by bd and know what you mean. it is cool to have the job of trying to destroy a auto. they want me to find the weaklinks so that the average joe doesn't. i can tell everyone that there is more than one game in town when it comes to auto trannies these days. now i'm not saying that i won't break this transmission but so far it has been bulletproof. coming out of the hole at 25psi in 4wd hitting the nos and lpg is a rush everyone should have at least once.

i will see you in muncie:D will there be heads up racing?

CAnderson, the ATS setup has lockup available in all gears. It is typically not shifted in lockup, and different ways of locking and unlocking the TC can be used. Give them a call, they will explain how their transmission/TC setup fits or does not fit what you do with your truck. We all have different goals and needs.

So is the only way to get an answer to this crap, is to call them directly. Seems like one post here is a much more efficient use of time that answering the same phone call 100+ times.

If lockup is controlled by the ECM/PCM ( what ever you call it ) and its not programmed to lockup in every gear, then how do you propose to get lockup in every gear for acceleration purposes?

Do they have some new controller? Reprogram the dodge module? Mystery switch? Some cool VB tricks? What?

Changing the VB so it available in every gear, does not immediately mean it works in every gear. I believe you still need some electronic method of controlling the signal from the factory computer to the transmission.

ATS upgrades

I am in the process of having the ATS converter and valvebody installed at present. The one single feature that impressed me most is the ability to obtain much better lockup clutch holding ability without having to turn up the pressure. During the last few months I have done a lot of research before making my decission and am convinced almost any aftermarket converter would be a big improvement over stock. I really believe DTT, BD, Dunrite, Suncoast etc are all quality products.

Can't wait to get my truck back within the next couple of days and experience the difference.

So lets see how they line up....

Please correct me if I'm wrong here guys but,

Nowel(HVAC)- DTT

Lawarence(DD)- DTT

Jim(Cumminstrokin)- BD

Adam(My6)- He's got a BD right?

Eric(Stack)- ATS

What do we notice? All must have good produts for the power they are putting down. ATS is the new game, and they got someone who has a known drag racer repution behind them, that's only good for the guys like me sitting on the line.

What else do we see? Besides the fact ATS needs another... .

2 =12v's

2 = 24v's

1 = hybrid

3 = twin turbos

Jim, since I don't think you want a hybrid, when you going to slap those twins on there?:D

Andrew

SlyBones, they do have a controller that will lock and unlock for you automatically, and yes a mystery switch will work as well if you choose to go that route.

TDK, give it some time. There are some other high HP trucks getting the ATS transmission.

CCannon said he would try to answer CAnderson's question tonight. I do not have all the info, and he could answer it better.

1st and 2nd gear lockup is only used for engine brakeing.

I will say that I had a chance to work the truck some today. It is working great. Take offs that used to be 2100 rpm are now 1500 rpm with the same load and full engine braking on decent is awesome in an auto truck. Sometimes I forget that it is an auto. Hills that I use to start brakeing from 40 mph are now 20 mph before I use the service brakes. I think an exhaust brake will be in my future. :D

andrew

as soon as i start getting beat at the track i will look into twins.

adam will outrun me unless i can either drop some weight or add some hp. i'm thinking i will have a 6800lb race weight and i should be able to get well into the 12's.

hvac has no traction and until he does he will be in the 13's.

eric should be in the 12's also.

i doubt lawerence's truck will see much time at the drag strip in 700hp trim. but keith has raced marks truck in the 500hp trim.

stefan's truck will need to go on a major diet in order to compete at the dragstrip this year. i think his speaker box alone weighs over 400#'s

i know there are more fast guys out there but these are the well known people around here.

i have total faith in my transmission it's the rest of the truck that is starting to worry me. :eek: at 4k miles it has had a rough breaking in to say the least.
