Thanks for the links. I talked to my friend that was with me when we priced the lowers awhile back at a local gun store. He remembers too that it was $3000! However, he was aware that the price was back down. This aparently happened right after Obama took office and the dealer said that he couldn't even keep them on the shelf if he could even get them. I guess there was a big scare out here in Kalifornia at that time. Maybe I will look back into this project.

Finding an stripped AR shouldn't be too hard to find for $150 or less. At least for now. Once it looks like the might O' will be re-elected, 2008 will happen all over again and probably worse.



Even trigger kits, upper components and such are already becoming scarce.



From what I know, AR lowers are all milled by a few select number of mfg's. For me, it boiled down to what was availible and what kind of symbol was ingraved on the side. The engraving or symbol is what determines most peoples decision to buy.



I bought my lower from JD Machine in San Diego because it's a Ca manufactured part. Prior to JD, it was know as Kaiser Defense or KD. I looked this morning and 5. 56 nato/. 223 stripped lowers were still availible.

Those are small pin.

AFAIK Colt is the only manufacturer who uses the large pins.



Sometimes Palmetto has a sale, as does Surplus ammo. Theyre $59 when theyre on sale.



I dont know anything about the polymer one, but for that price I may try one out.

I prefer the aluminum ones myself.

Are any of these parts AR upper/lowers and inbetween parts really any better than the next?



Appears to be cheap, somewhat cheap and expensive compenents all across the board.



Starting to think it's a Dodge VS Chevy kinda thing.



I just bought a RRA LPK for $70. But I've seen other LPK's are about $50+. What gives?

Yes, there are several different "levels" of parts.

BCM is what is commonly referred to as "tier 1" manufactured.

That dont mean it's the best for everyone, or the most accurate... it means that they are manufactured to military specs.

The meaning of "desireable features" is military specification of manufacure methods and materials and per print spec.

If you buy a Krieger barrel you'll have the BEST target barrel out there, but it's not a mil spec part.



I dont know if the PSA links above are mil spec. Probably not for that price. I know people who have their stuff and like it. They have a good record of not building shyte.

Well Im very sad to admit that I'm going to sell all of the AR components that I've legally bought recently. Thankful to Senator Yee (San Fransicko), he has introduced senate bill 249, which will turn the very specific component (bullet button) into a public nuisance - AKA FELONY, even though the DOJ has admitted in several different court cases that the bullet button is legal.



Ca law has submitted a letter that the DOJ needs to re-define it's interpretation of the law so that it in compliance with CA law.



Overnight, in a short while, Ca will turn me into a felon.



FU Klauber, and Gulddumper. I'm taking my $600k a year business elsewhere. You dummy's keep feeding the Mexicans for me.



I hope Ca falls flat on it's A S S and takes every blood sucking lib turd with it.
