2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission My Truck Is Leaking!!!!!

Lately, when it has rained hard, I find a puddle of water in the back right section of the truck, on the floor. I have no idea where it is coming from, and the truck is usually sitting when this happens. Has anyone else had this happen, or heard of this? How do I go about checking to see where it is coming from????

I want to fix this before it starts to mold and mildew.

Hey Scott,

Check out the gasket for the 3rd brake light. Mine was leaking on my old red truck causing water to get in the truck.

I had a 2001 1500 and I always found water in the same spot when it rained. They same it was a seam behind the cab that was leaking. They took the bed off and filled the seam with seam sealer. That took care of my water problem

Move to Arizona you have no leaks. Can't remember the last time it rained!!!! Sure cure.

I guess I will have to just crawl in the back and have someone pressure wash the outside to see where it comes from. Taking it to the dealer is not an option, it is out of warranty, and they would take 3 days to figure it out. Three days of car rentals would almost buy me new weather stripping all the way around the truck.

I agree with Curtis. The cargo light gasket is cheap so it's a good idea to try it before doing anything else. Most likely place to leak. If it does leak what happens is that the water runs around the back window and shows up someplace else. Hard to find even if you are inside. When mine leaked the carpet on the driver's side in front of the front seat was soaked. No other place was wet.

Well, I replaced the Cargo light gaasket a few weeks ago. It has been pouring down every day for over a week now, and the carpet is high and dry. Thanks for all ther help guys. I guess ya'll talked me into renewing my subscription here. I would hate to think how long the dealer would have kept it to try to figure out that 3 minute fix, and what it would have cost me.

On the roof of your cab there is a black stripe that meets

the rear window. At that point is your leak. Check both

sides.
