but i think that is a problem:rolleyes: i have read the other posts and topics about fuel module failures, and mine seems not to match what other people are seeing. i filled up the other day, guage went to full, drove about 50 miles or so and guage started to move towards 3/4 just like normal. then truck sat a few hours, and when i started it, the needle went clear past the "F" mark, now with over 130miles on this tank of fuel, it still reads over full when it should be close to 3/4 tank. sounds like a stuck float to me:( ... any other ideas?

You might have a loose connector or open ground in the harness at the tank. I would check your wiring down at the tank for its integrity. :)

Mine was stuck at 1/4 tank... for a little more than a 1/4 tanks worth. I ran out of fuel. :( Something in the tank stuck. Not sure what it was, it was covered under warranty. I agree in your case it could be a short. Since mine was steady at 1/4 tank I was sure it was in the tank. With a gauge that is pinned, I believe a ground causes a meter reading of full. The more restriction, the lower the gauge reads. Doesn't mean its not shorted out in the tank, could be anywhere.

Mine does the same thing. If when the auto shut off on the hose stops. DO NOT try to top the tank off. Every time I did this it would stick on full. Sometimes when I am off road and hit a bump hard it would also do this. Float would be my guess also. I just get under the truck and kick the hell out of the tank and it goes back to normal. Or try a rubber mallet.

The kick method usually works very well for stuck on full

Don't feel bad, I ran out today with a tractor that read 1/2 tank. Was on a side hill that so steep all the fuel went to the end opposite the pickup tube.

just for grins, check the overhead computer for distance-to-empty accuracy. If thats bad as well, then you have more evidence of a failure further upstream in the fuel system. -Doug

Reminds me of a funny story. Back in High School in the 1960's a friend's neighbor was very anal about his new Chevy, and was always checking the gas mileage and trying new driving techniques or gizmo's to boost the mileage. Well this buddy started adding gallons of gas to the guys tank every once in awhile, in the middle of the night for awhile, then after a few months of adding gas, and listening to the guy boast about his GREAT mileage, he started siphoning a few gallons out of the tank at night. About drove the poor neighbor crazy UNTIL he caught him one night! He wasn't very happy with him.
