trouble filling fuel tank

Well with stock fuel settings my newly installed PODS were not impressing me. Add to that my idle dropped about 150 rpm, I felt it was time to adjust my pump. Of course I was in a hurry and flew threw Bob's sticky on VE pump and thought I had some idea of how to adjust the full fuel screw. I'm probly goin to get yelled at for this, but I 'removed' the full fuel screw out of the pump and did a poor job of removing the lock collar. Got the end threads of the screw all messed up from me using the grinder on the collar. I made note of where the lock nut was to the screw and I think I ended up turning the screw in about 3 turns.

Then to the governor screw, well I turned it quite a bit. Tach was reading WOT at 2600, now WOT 2900.

Low idle went up about 350 rpm, now I dont use the throttle lock to control rpm, it idles at about 850-900 rpm, I will get to the low idle adjust tomorrow.

Now for the scarey part, as soon as I took off, it was like a different truck, threw me back in my seat, I couldnt believe the difference!! I could control smoke with my right foot, WOT it would throw a nice bit of black smoke. Go threw the gears a few times, a couple bonzai runs and I was scared, it was like a totally different truck. Oh yeah, time for a bigger boost guage, before WOT I could hit 22psi. Now not quite WOT and I'm pegging the guage(30psi). EGT's before on bonzai run maybe 1100*, now I can hit 1300*, didnt really know for sure since my head was back against the seat and I backed out of it once I hit the red.

I guess the POD'S do flow some fuel... My 4 mile interstate test run at 65 mph, boost remained same about 5psi, and egt's possibly up about 50* to 800* maybe. Ok sorry for so long, just wanted to share my scarey experience, 600 cummins- nah I'll stick with my 1st gen... Bill

We've corrupted another.....

Welcome to the world of BOMBing. It is FUN, FUN, FUN, FUN. :D :D :D :D Now get a bigger turbo, smaller hosuing, and an intercooler (if you have one, get a BIGGER one), along with a 4" exhaust... ... ..... and a second job to pay for it all. OR go cheap like me, cause you gotta, and still make it work. PM for the gory details.

Glad you like it. BUT, dont give us any whining about MPGs for AT LEAST 3 tanks- anytime before that will be inaccurate as you will still be having fun leaving everyone in the dust, er, uh, ummm, I mean smokin everyone else. Some of us never get over it, and live with 18 mpg intown.

Yaaa Baby !!!! now we be jammin mon... ... . ok, now comes the part were we "deal" the drug of choice like, oh, say, HX35 hybrid, or, hmmmm, maybe governor spring, high flow air system, certain other slightly less than top secret parts and oh ya the ... ... ... ... ... .

Welll alrighty then!!

Just think how much power there would be if ya got the washers on the right way!!!;)

Only kidding of course... ...

Welcome to the BAA (bomb-ahaulics annonomous):D

HEY!!! Who says we're trying to quit? I am perfectly content to admit to having an addiction to power and torque, as long as the pocket book holds up to the abuse.

There he is, look what comes out of the woodworks. 12 posts. I've seen you in here before. . [1992 4wd, Dana 80, nv5600,w/'02 24valve converted to p7100. ]- you know I've heard of unicorns, think I even saw a mermaid once... hmmm now that sounds like a hell of a set up!! Any pics? Bill

"..... 1992 4wd, Dana 80, nv5600,w/'02 24valve converted to p7100..... "

Now Ron, you know that you're using a complimentary "hall pass" in here... . with all the "other generation" stuff, we gotta keep track of you guys... . :D:D:D;)

Hey the wrapper might say O Henry but the bar aint the same, ya know what I mean... ;)

Besides I think you and nascar mark are in cahoots here with all this "other gen" stuff on our trucks... .

Sounds like twins are in the wind too..... :D

Pastor Bob...

Heck, with the right injectors, turbo, and dual 5" pipe, you can hit 500. Aint that right, CB?;)Oo.

BushWakr- does that PB mean Pastor or Pharmacist Bob? Or is it one and the same? kind of like those "churches" some of the hippies had back in the day. You know, before I was born...

Well, his sig could read...

"..... 1992 4wd, American axle rear, Allison trans, w/'02 24valve converted to p7100..... "

I just wonder how long it will take someone to put a common rail cummins with Allison in one of our first gens.

I think RonA would make more than 500hp with injectors, turbo, and exhaust. The P7100 makes some serious hp in the right hands. I haven't turned up my "new" old rig. I have yet to get gauges and retorque the headbolts, so I have restrained the urge to power up.

It's too bad the number of first gen owners is dwindling. It almost brings tears to my eyes to look at my 90 dually, then peer over to my 67 D300 with 318, 4 spd, large Dana w/ 4. 88 gears and realize that I too have jumped away from the old generation and into something newer that makes her obsolete. I won't forget those old times towing cars around with the old gal... Sorry for getting off track. Guess I will let someone else speak now.

Hey Nathan,

Not so man... . not so... we are seeing more and more guys who are buying and modding these old girls.

Oh ya we have a few who want to mix 'N match but hey it's all good... . :D:D

Ron, you're pass is still good... ;):D

Now if we can just get a few guys to push a bit harder and move the bar a bit more... . trouble is, very few want to really share their thoughts, successes and failures... but hey ya can't give it all away...

You gott do some thinking on your own in order to really learn what's what... . In the end, slowly at first, the tricks of the trade end up in public domain...

Midwest Motorman-

I was referring to the VE pumped trucks; takes little more than a torque plate in a P7100 (913- on the 215 hp trucks) to reach 500, and it is no great accomplishment. I am kinda on the inside of a project (or at least I know what is oging on) in the works to get a VE pumped truck to cross the 500 barrier. ;)
