when it came from the factory, absolutely gutless.

After some upgrades it's almost bearable. Just a little more and then all will be good, until some company comes up with more power goodies. :--)

The dyno numbers are without any computer enhancement or any thing. No boost module, no exhaust enhancements, no air intake mods, no nothing just DD 1's.

Ron

Ron;

You planning to run the dyno next Saturday at Mike's now that you added a box? I'm hearing a hot rod stroker will be there, too.

Chuck,go with the 2's. They are nice. I have the 3's,and wish they were 2's. I love the power, but, with auto's some trucks have stalling problems with the 3's. Mine stall, and my Dads 01 did with 3's too,we put 2's in his,now it only stalls like once a month,we can live with that.

My truck was slow stock too,the 01 is much stronger than the 2000 IMO,stock for stock. Mine ran good with an EZ,it should have come stock like that, now its no longer a turd. The comp really woke it up,the dd3's,and DTT put in warp mode!

I have the 89%,my dad has the 91,it is too tight IMO,very smokey out of the hole, with 3. 55's and his 91,his truck has no response out of the hole, with my 4. 10's,and 89,my truck is much spunkier, and lively than his, once under way you cant tell the difference from the seat of pants between the 2. If we knew then,we would have went with the 89 for his too.

I was going to say that with that tight of a converter that that could be your problem. Man that came out to alot of that's.

Ron

I question myself sometimes and thats a matter of fact.

The 89 is the loosest DTT makes, although it is 100% tighter than the stocker. I feel the TC aggravates the stalling, but its not the actual problem. i feel the DD3's high fuel flow cause the ECM to operate at the low end of its idel parameter, and any small correction is overexaggerated,so even if the truck dont stall,it will go rump, rump, rump for a few seconds, after its dropped in gear, then smooth out. Funny thing is,there is a direct connection between trans temp, and stalling. my sender is in the hot line, with temps below 120,and a cold engine, stalling isnt an issue. When it hits 165 hot line, when plowing,it starts staling big time, also on a hot restart, say you run in the store quick,or shut it down to order at a drive thru-restart it,and it will stall every time, sometimes twice before it will go into gear the 3rd time without stalling,I havethe 14-18-01 high idle reflash too, this didnt seem to help one bit,in fact it made it worse on the hot restart. It seems to me,like the second you pull the lever into D or R,the engien actually cuts out for a second, and sometimes it will catch itself, and keep running as it actually goes in gear, sometimes it wont. I guarantee if i put the stock small injectors back in,my problem would be gone, but so would my power.

John,

In all honesty I'am not after that kind of thing anymore. After getting married 23 years ago this Sunday my pockets are not as deep, more like sewed shut until recently. Maybe she thinks after 23 years the urge to raise a little hell is gone, I think it's still in there somewhere though, at least I want to beleave it is. I just wanted a truck that could pull better than the 360 ram I had before the cummins. Now this truck will run circles around that gasser includeing the quarter. :--)

Ron

Snow man,

I think the stalling problem with your dads was somewhat related to the high stall TC, Yours is related to something else, what I do not know but there are guys out there running around with more upgrades and bigger injectors than you have and I have not heard of them haveing stalling problems, except a few that had high HP and low stall TC without addressing spool up and other fueling problems. Maybe one of them guys could chime in and tell us what they actually done to solve there problem, then you could keep the 3's and enjoy.

Ron

Thats what im hoping. I find it funny that both my truck, and my dads did it,but no one else's. i cant beleive this problem is mostly just our 2 trucks,You cant feel any difference dropping his or mine into gear, they both go in gear real hard, but that is how the DTT convertors go in gear,so that normal, the 91 isnt why his stalled,he dropped to dd2's,and it dont stall, but once a month or so,so it wasnt the TC,it is electronic, aggravated by the big injectors. We took his injectors out, only because the smoke with the HY35 /EZ was unbearable,I mean blackout smoke. Those same injectors only smoke off boost in my truck,no smoke under boost,Once we put the dd2' in his truck, the smoke was liveable, just a haze under WOT,still a good cloud on takoff, due to the tight TC more than anything else.

Snowman,

Just trying to help solve a problem but do you know for sure if your trucks are not starting out in a higher gear sometimes and the tight TC is causeing the stalls. When you installed your setup did you put a resistor in line to the PCM, If you did not that could be the problem, and you are starting out in a higher gear causeing stalls, If there was one installed in each truck then it could be the wrong resistant resistor. (resistant) thats not the correct word for what the resistor does but cannot think of the correct term at this point. :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention to give Bill a call and he will solve your problems.

Ron,the trucks are not starting in 2nd,the transmission in my dad's has over 10K on it since I did the install,it is flawless, yes they both have the resistor. i have 6K on mine, with 4 storms plowing,if these trannys werent put together right,or were starting in 2nd,I would know it by now,and they would be fried by now. I have talked to Bill at DTT,and he made every effort to help me,even offered to send me DD2's. even though i got my DD3's from Nowel,I declined them. I think I may have stumbled on to my problem today, its still to early to tell yet. My edge comp was turning itself on,I called Edge, they sent me a new one,no questions asked, they have great customer service,I put it in today,no other changes,I just unplugged it,and plugged in the new one. Well the truck hasnt stalled all day,it hasnt even hinted at stalling,on an average day it would have stalled about 8 times today, with the driving i did. it used to almost cut out when dropping into gear,it doesnt do that at all now. I hope it stays this way. I cant explain why,I will call edge to find out if this makes any sense at all. Anyway with vendors like DTT,and Edge,Im not worried about it to much, they both have gone to any lenth needed to help dolve this problem, hopefully it is fixed now,I figure if its fine all week then its fixed. If i didnt get this new Comp,I would have never known. I mean this thing is rock steady now, going into gear, unblievable,i find myself gently going back ,and forth, laughing to myself,as it never hunts, and idles rock steady. My dad's truck is fine, once a month stalling is ok with him. he has more than enough power,he only wants more after he drives my truck,LOL. BTW Ron,Im an ex chrysler tech. Im not an expert on these trucks,by no means, but i know them pretty good now,and have a solid automotive background,16 yrs as mechanic. This has been a frustrating problem, one of the few ive had stump me this long. Thanks for your Help.
