Attention: TDR Forum Junkies 
My neighbor has a 1997 1500 and the brakes were making real BAD noise. They took it to the dealer in San Fernando, CA and 400 bucks later it was "fixed". The dealer said it was due to "brake clip failure". Less than a week later same I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER. "The brake clip failed and this will cost 200". "Save the parts for me". Upon picking up the truck the owner overhears the service manager saying something about a brake clip, she assumes its her truck being discussed... no it was another "customer". So it seems to me the "brake clip" is the money-maker of the month or year! When asked to see the parts... . they were put in the trash!
