I was going to embed the video here, but some of you are on modems... so, I'll just give you the link.

it's 2 megs in size, and if you're not on cable, it'll break up.

Just click here with your right mouse button, and save target to your hard drive. It's an AVI format, should play with real player or windows media.

COOL!!!!

Sounds just like my 92 straight piped!!!! Cab noise is liveable to me, but the wife is not to fond of it. Enjoy   :D :D

I am running straight again because the BD down pipe I bought needs to be "taught" how to fit the rest of my exhaust since I put the 12cm^2 housing on... . sounds sweet! :)

doc tinker made a thread about people like you. I would never think doing something like that. my truck is completely stock and I would never think of modifying it from the way the factory made it. just think of all the spotted owls your killing and all the whales that will never find their way home. Oh the shame.

I was saving the owls and whales when it was smoking, but now that it's not, i'm killing them???

:D

Hmmmm... .

PW, that old girl sounds good!!! It sounds like that TC is plenty tight for the power you have right now. Get the injectors and 12 housing on, then I demand a rematch!!!! Nice truck BTW. Howard.

Hitting the pedal is like stomping on cold oatmeal. There's resistance, but no action. On a 6 percent grade, at 55, the engine runs almost precisely the same speed in O/D as in direct. At 65, there's some difference.

It's just BEGGING for the smaller turbo and lower stall, and I'm sure that doing so will improve the fuel economy, especially when towing.

As for it's power off the line, I have not tweaked the fuel, nor has anyone else. I'm pretty sure it's well below spec. Tweaking it a bit and adding PW injectors will mean I can get the engine to 2400 in any gear at any speed, which is bad... real bad.

I've driven a truck with the tighter converter... very nice to drive. It launches harder with little throttle movement, and the shifts actually mean something.

As for my truck shifting, the only reason you can hear it, is that I've cranked the governor at least 300 rpm, and the transmission seems to let it run pretty much all the way up there before it shifts. Before I played with it, the shift was almost imperceptible from 1-2 and then almost immediate from 2-3. At WOT, the engine didn't change speeds more than 300 rpm from 20 to 65 mph.

Tweaking and the Governor!

Say it isn't so! Say it isn't so!

The stalwart of stock is becoming a Bombaholic?

The pull is soo strong!

(Really, I don't see how anyone who has a little knowledge wouldn't "adjust" things to taste. )

It's Great to have you with us 1st Gens Mark!!!!

I've never been for "stock"... I'm just "anti-smoke", and as you can see... it doesn't smoke.

I'm going to see how much power I can get with no smoke, and that's all i'm gonna have :)

when you say there is only a 300rpm drop when it shifts, is that at full throttle? If it is have you checked the stall speed of that converter? It should drop more than that because it should be at lock-up speed and drag the engine down. I don't have a lock-up converter but when mine shifts, it is a solid shift. So much so that in the rain it will break the tires loose and on dry pavement it will throw you in the seat. Then again, mine isn't set to the factory mushy specs.

Did you read the e-mail I sent you? If you have a tach you should do a stall check. Just put it in gear with your foot FIRMLY on the brake and give it throttle until it stops gaining rpm's. DO NOT DO THIS FOR MORE THAN 30 SECONDS AT A TIME. and give it 30 seconds of cool down time in NEUTRAL between tests. You need to find out what the stall speed is for your converter before you do the test. It should be withen 250 rpm.

Oh, and I should mention you should have a wide open space in front of the truck for this test. Believe it or not a guy I know did this test and the car almost made it all the way into his living room. Man was his wife mad.
