My truck's for sale right now-----ya know, trying to build a house, could use the cash, etc. , blah-blah. But... ... ..... I really have mixed feelings about selling it. The more I read on here the more I like the early 3G's. I like the looks and the hardware better (NV5600, 11. 5" axle, no cat, no e-wastegate) than the newer trucks. If I buy another one down the line, I'll either have to buy another later 3G or... ... ... Blaspheme!!!!... ..... I've seen a real nice converted '99 F250 4X4 with a nicely massaged 12V. Yes, I confess, I have lusted after the notion. Of course a Unimog would be nice (heh-heh)... ... Oh I don't know!!!!!!!! I value your opinions gang. What do you think?

Building a house ain't you gone to need a truck anyway? Pencil out what you paid for it and what you can now really get for it AND how much you will have to pay for a cheaper truck with unknown history. Now if you aren't going to replace it with anything I guess you will save some$ on fuel costs

I just traded my '03 and '05 quad cabs for mega yesterday. The '03 had almost 80k miles and the '05 30k. Both my wife and I found the '03 to be the better driving truck. It seemed to have much less lag off the start and it was getting 22 mpg, about 4mpg better than the '05. I was EXTREMELY tempted to keep the '03, it was an awesome truck. In the end we had been spoiled by a big cab on the Chev we traded for the '05 and with Dodge stepping up with the Mega, we made the change.

Keep in mind that it will be difficult if you sell and try to find anothe nice early 3rd gen. Most guys feel like you do and keep them until the truck part is badly worn out. Then the "employee pricing" thing screwed the resale WAY down on used trucks. I almost had to force the 30k mile '05 down the dealers throat. I traded yesterday and I bet the '03 sells today, they had a line of people looking for an early 3rd gen. My advice is to keep it. You obviously have it all set up, and it wont be worth what you want for it.

A few months ago I was at my buddy's shop changing my engine oil. Another friend was there giving me a hard time about his 04. 5 having more hp and tq than my truck. Also there was a guy there that I didn't know, he was a diesel tech worked where ever. He was commenting on my 03 truck, and I popped off and said yeah thanks, but it's only got the cheap-o SO/250hp according to Gary (guy that has the 04. 5). The diesel tech said "oh" that don't matter one bit to me I know how to make that 250 run, the main thing to me is it does not have all that emissions b. s. on it like Gary's truck and is still legal.

Thanks gents. Y'all are echoing some of my own sentiments. Yeah, employee pricing is not helping. A guy tells me today " I got a $20,000 check for you". I say "Uhhhh is that what you're offering me for the truck? I may be able to move a little off book, but it definitely AIN'T selling for 20 grand!!!!!

Keep it. I was in a similar predicament back in May. I listed the truck, and no one wanted it.

I'm soo happy I still have it. I would be bummed if I got rid of it. I love having minimal emissions equipment, an NV5600, and an easy to replace lift pump.

Keep your truck... I love my 03. If you need any help with your loan that's what I do for a living. PM me if you have any questions or just want to know if you are getting a good deal on your loan :D:D

I have to vote for "keep it" also. I would love to be able to buy another pickup just to play with, but I haven't won the Lotto yet.

Clayton: Can you get me a loan even though the prices are about $200K too high for me here for a house that is too small? ;)

Yup... I sure can. There is always a way. :D Whether or not it is in your best interest that's another story.
