Argh!!!! Just about the time I get things the way I wanted, now my turbo is going bad. Sometimes while driving I hear a screeching sound through the exhaust and when I shut it off and listen while the turbo blades quit spinning you can really hear the metal to metal contact and about the time that the blades totally stop spinning, I can hear what sounds like sticking a piece of wire in a fan. Anyways you can see my mods in my signature with a few others. What turbo should I put on now, I was told that b/c I drive it on the street every day that I should just put on another HX 35 I dunno what to do. Thanks to all in advance.

If you drive far enough.....

that this one comes apart----you will be very sorry.

How much boost and EGT were you getting with this one? It looks to me like you need at least a PDR HX35 or maybe even a 40 with at least a 14cm housing.

Just my 2 cents.

The 40 is perfect for daily driving. You wont be sorry. You will never hear a person with a 40 say I wish I went with the 35. I'll bet there are people that got the 35 and now say I wish I got the 40. Just another one of my uneducated guesses. :)

Its going fast!!!

If what you describe is really happening, you only have "minutes" before the turbo goes. Better not drive until you get replacement. If the turbo grenades, pieces can go into the intercooler, possibly in the engine, the exhaust etc. You defiantly don't want to go there!!! Recommend a PDR HX-40 replacement.

I talked to several here in Ohio including Mitchell's who have had HX 40's they all said do not get one b/c they are junk. They recommended me to get a built HX 35 w/ 14 or 16 cm housingn non-wastegated. I was hitting 38-40 psi a lot and sometimes 42-45 with my old turbo. I do have the boost elbow in there. My EGT's were through the roof.

You know. Lsmith I did a lot of research before buying my HX-50 and I heard some complaints about the HX-40 not holding up. I have also heard that people have blown up the HX-50. . I own both Turbo's. I work the HX-50 about a week out of the month after race night. I work the HX-40 the rest of the time for daily driving and towing. They are both brand new and purchased a month apart. I guess I would be a good test subject or I can start a new subject or you can start a poll. Good question LSmith.

get ahold of kurt yardley & he will build you a killer turbo that will be as durable as anything out there probably more durable. the b1 turbo is almost bulletproof. you will love the kwik spool turbo. kurts # is 505-534-0434 give him a call and talk to him, great guy... good luck... kurt.

Ask Kurt about the K-45 too.

If your not going real high on the hp ladder its a good alternative to an HX-40. :D
