I did it. Bought my very first RV. A 2013 Forest River V-Lite. And we love it. Made my wife trade in her Chevy with the small V-8 and she bought a Dodge 1500 with the Hemi in it. The dealer we dealt with orders all his trucks, no matter what size, with the brake controllers already in them and all the hook ups in the back. And lifetime warranty on the truck itself. We had some very bad winds bringing it home from the dealer but the Hemi handled it just fine and with the sway bar controls and it didn't sqaut like I thought it would. First time I ever pulled anything with brakes on it and it was great. Kite Bros. in DeRidder LA did an outstandind job showing us how to install and adjust the hitches and such Now I've got to find a brake controller for my 3/4 Dodge Quad Cab. Which brand do you suggest. Taking it to the Arkansas mountains in March. Bluegrass festivals here we come. LOL

Also I like to congratulate you on the RV purchase, the brake controller that you should get is the MaxBrake controller. There are cheaper out there but they don't respond as fast and that lag can mean your life, if caught up in a panic stop. My advise would be to drive it slow and careful, until your used to pulling the trailer. You will find that the Hemi will sit at home when you go to fill it after towing a few miles. Its been 35+ years since I drove through Arkansas, and what I remember are some steep grades but are not very long. Have fun with your RV and please post some pics of your trips on the Bluegrass Festivals.

I second the Maxbrake suggestion. Also not sure how heavy or lite your trailer is, but monitor your trailer tires faithfully. PSI checks and consider an IR temp gun to check tire, brake and hub temps. Very versatile tool. If budget permits, a TPMS system can be installed on or IN the trailer tires. It can help. Have fun.

MaxBrake. No doubt, hands down, the best brake controller I've ever used. Easy install and smooth effortless braking. You won't be sorry.
