Hello folks,

I noticed a small spot under my truck this morning and upon further investigation i noticed a small droplet forming on the ac compressor bracket. The fluid is clear when i wiped it off with my finger and has a oily feel to it. At first i thought it may be condensation but the vehicle was sitting over night and like i mentioned the fluid felt oily. I checked all the fluids and everything was good, and the only thing i could think of was the ac compressor was leaking. Is this possible? And if so how concerned do i need to be? My truck has 59,000 miles on it and is completely stock. Any help would be appreciated.

It was the water pump

well I took it to the dealership and they determined it was the water pump. I see that there are a couple other threads on here that mention folks are having water pump failures at low milage. What i found interesting was my truck never overheated or had that smell you usually get when you leak coolant. thats why thought it was the AC compressor. Anyway the dealership did a good job (K&M Dodge, north side of Grand Rapids MI) and was able to get me back on the road in a few hours.

Thanks!

I just had a simular problem with mine. I just took it in to the dealer last night and Im waiting to hear from them as I write this. My truck only has 28000 miles on it.

I got called by the dealer this afternoon and they confirmed it, it is a leaky water pump but they dont have it in stock. It will be in on Monday and I should have the truck that evening.

i had the same exact thing happen to mine at 35000 miles dealer claimed there were no leaks and i had to go in and show the idiot mechanic... ... they claimed it was a hose thats was leaking just got truck back today..... we will see
