Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Mystery solved!

Have fighting A/C distribution problem for some time. Half the time when turning on AC, doors would stay in the defrost position. Other times it would be OK after it ran for awhile. Thought the vacuum pump might be bad, but it pulls 24+ inchesStudied the book on how to get to the doors. BIG time job. Checked the vacuum hoses again and found the little 2. 5" hose was split on both ends. Third time a charm! Hard to see until I decided to take it apart.

Whee, what a relief. New hose and it works like a charm. I can just imagine what dealer would have come up with. Oo.

Where is the 2. 5" hose located? I have the same issue.

Its hiding on the firewall side close to master cylinder reservor connected to the "T" where the hose from the vacuum pump attaches. There is several hoses there. Suggest check them all.

The ones inside under the dash are a nightmare to get to.
