How do I wire in a switch to keep the fan from coming on?

Had not run the Ram for 18 days, went out and the batteries were dead. The batteries were 4 months old as I had replaced the 3 1/2 yr old batteries when they went dead in Sept.

Thinking that something was wrong, I checked the amp draw through the copper jumper installed by BD when they installed a PressureLoc in May, 2000. The jumper replaces the "Trans" relay that is closed when the rig is running. My measurement after I had the batteries recharged was a 0. 24 amp draw with the rig shut down. No wonder the batteries will go dead in 2-3 weeks without operation.

Issue 19 of the TDR discusses the "mystery switch" for manual torque converter lockup. The article shows installation of the same jumper in place of the "Trans" relay in the Power Distributiion Center. Issue 19 says the jumper is necessary to prevent engine faults and limp home operation in 3rd gear.

I reinstalled the relay in my 97 (47RE) and the transmission operates fine (same as before) with no engine fault codes.

If you have had battery discharge and have a mystery switch or PressureLoc you might experiment if the jumper is necessary for your particular transmission/engine/computer configuration.
