Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) mystery switch ???

will cutting the orange and black wire and running into a switch only and making lockup total manual control cause a check engine light on a 95 3500 with a 47 rh,, just want to find out before I do it . the trans is trying to go to lockup at 13- 16 mph in 3rd gear and causes a shudder till mph is higher

The only way to get a CEL on a '95 is for the alternator to quit.
