Mystery to Me

On my 2010's overhead console I have the green night light that shines down on the console and the interior lights that come on and off with the door or are push on/off. I cannot find this light or sensor in the owners manual and do not know it's purpose or if it works. What is it? I know where the rear view mirror gets it's signal and the headlights. The dealer doesn't know either.

I believe it is the temp sensor for the climate control.

my wifes acura has a simliar one ist a faint light to see shifter/drinks on hers. .

(half lit led/moonlight look)
