I made a cradle mount / heat shield for my NAPA 2790 Mopar Guy filter. Bolts to the orignal air box mount. I will post a picture of it when I get my hands on a camera. Maybe I could make some extras? Or give out a blue print. It is made from . 063 aluminum and has a few welds on it and a few bends. Oh yhea, My truck is a 2001 four wheel drive auto, are all filter mounts the same?

I am going to see what a fab shop with a CNC plasma cuter will charge to run a batch of twenty, tomarrow. I am not out to make a killing, so unless they charge alot it will be cheap. I really don't want to invest in a band saw or I would do it myself. ( yes, I am lazy) Look for a picture soon. Oh yeah, I fab prototype parts for the aerospace industry for a living so the part should live up to dodge standards, maybe. Brian Mallory

Here is a picture but the mount/ shield still needs some triming. It is . 080 aluminum and will be polished on turbo side. Save the ruber star nuts on stock filter box they make for a nice installation. They pop out of the box with a little pressure. I will also make a version that uses standard nuts . The cradle that holds the filter is not shown in photo. Need 55 bucks each if I sell a dozen, price could be lowered if demand is real high. Look for a picture of final product with filter installed in a few days. This thing is slick, and that filter makes a huge pre turbo temp drop. Brian Mallory Oh well the file is to big. Send my an e-mail and I will forward a picture. Brian - -- email address removed --

I have got a train load of e-mails, I will find a way to post the pictures or give it a site. I am no internet wiz so please be patient . I will plan on making a bunch of these mounts. thanks Brian Mallory:confused:

I think I got the picture to attach. Dr. Kayak nice job, really simple-and functional. I decided to make this myself with a router instead of paying someone to cut it out. The pictures are minus the cradle. Brian Mallory:)

I do not have dimensions on this thing, I just trimmed it untill it fit. I will take a picture of the flat pattern with a scale on it maybe you can use it. Brian Mallory

Heat Shield

Mallory, Nice fabricartion job. It would be better if it was made out something other than aluminum, unfortunatly aluminum is an excellent conductor of heat... JMO

Dr. Kayak, Nice low budget heat shield, I like your idea of making it double wall.

I had originally planed the shield to be double walled. After searching for two days I have not been able to find my pop-rivet gun. So, for now, I’m road testing this single wall shield. Will post the results of the road test.

Here is a picture with a scale if anyone wants to biuld one. The brake is just over 90 degrees. Mine are . 080 aluminum , not sure of the series but I would guess 6061-0. The turbo side has a guick polish job, maybe it will reflect some heat?? The issue of heat transfer came up, maybe some type of stick on insulation would help? The filter can be zip tied or just lay it on the cradle as mine does(it would take a long zip tie!). If anyone wants one E-mail me and I will send one after I get a check for 45. 00. I will hold the check untill you E-mail or call that you are happy with the mount. I am not going to make many of these as I already have one full time job! Brian Mallory P. S. If any TDR type events take place in the southeast Georgia area I might show up with some of these. (the scale is 2 inches wide and the part is just over 24 inches long by 16 wide).
