Do you know if this filter is standard media or stratpore. I am still using the 3894 on my 3rd gen with no issues in 100k mi. That is ahellaofa good price if its a stratpore media. Also that dealership is only 'bout 25 mi from the house maybe I could save shipping on the case and that would be even a better deal. :) TIA

Jim

I'm pretty sure they are the standard media...

But following the logic of this thread, while they might plug off and simply not do anything (not disputing your claim), that doesn't mean they they won't disentigrate and plug the ports in the engine... !

Next time you remove the by-pass filter element, look at the orifice for the return oil going back to the engine... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... I think you'll be surprised! Unlike a "FULL-FLOW" filter, there is very little flow through this filter, so the possibility of disintegrating, is very small. But if your still concerned with it disintagrateing, simply take it off! Then you can quit worrying.

I guess you missed that I already posted that scenario about a page back...

... and small flow doesn't guarantee no disintegration. There is still operating pressure across the filter media...

Again, I'm not arguing whether Amsoil is good or not... just still trying to figure out whether they have a written warranty... even the best products have a failure rate...

I just went out and replaced my NAPA Gold filter with the Mopar. I think this has been clarified but just for piece of mind, are the Mopar and the Fleetguard the same filter? The Mopar looks just like the one in the pic posted earlier with the additional holes. I only ran the NAPA for about 2000 miles. Should I be concerned?

Thanks,

Russ

Yes you are correct the MOPAR filter for our Dodge Cummins is manufactured by Fleetguard.

The Fleetguard LF3972 is the same as the Mopar unit but in the Fleetguard can. The Stratopore version for our trucks is LF16035

Russ you have nothing to worry about. You made the right choice by changing filters.

fleetguard makes the mopar one. .

no. while i wouldn't run a napa/wix filter [as i can get fleetguards cheaper] if i had one in there, i would run it my normal oil change interval. .
