I am not a Nascar fan because of the lack of stock in the stock cars, I used to like it when they still ran stock bodies way back when. Plus I am not a roundy roundy race fan.

If they would rename the race to something other than STOCK CAR racing it wouldn't be such a craw in my side. It is an insult to the real weekend dirt track stock car racing.

Sorry it took so long to reply... I indeed was trying to be polite, and there's nothing here meant to hurt anybody's feelings.

You proved my point about the ignorance... there are many, MANY things beyond springs and shocks that comprise the setup of a racecar; such as static as well as dynamic caster and camber, stagger, tire pressure, shock angles, a-frame mounting and length, panhard bar height and rake, chassis rake, wheel spacing, wheelbase, ballast placement, fuel cell height... all of these things make big differences in the handling of a car, and those who put the better combination together go faster.

You have friends who build engines in Charlotte... I have been setting up race chassis for over 15 years...

NASCAR used to be a team putting a car together an going racing, build as much HP and turn it loose. I lost interest when NASCAR started telling teams how much air pressure to run on their cars.

When NASCAR dictates what the teams are allowed to do, its no longer racing. Same cars, same set-ups, same tires, same fuel. . . everything has to be the same. So much for personal engineering/effort to make speed and handling, now its dictated for you. You call that racing?

Big business has taken over as well. NASCAR has lost its roots a long time ago. As far as Toyota being in the races now, i wonder where toyota was when the good ole boys were running shine from the cops. Oh, wait, was yota' even around back then?

I dont like them being involved with the racing with NASCAR, and to hear DW say about how great their cars are, makes me wanna puke. I wonder how much they have to pay those guys announcers, to talk it up, trying to get the fans to accept it.

I am definately a fan of America and American made but to be honest I hope that Toyota blows the doors off the big three in NASCAR. The big three have been giving us overpriced, underperforming junk compared to what Toyota has been serving up. Don't get me wrong, I'd be mad if some guy with the last name of Toyota was winning the races, but as long as a good old American boy is driving, may the best car win. The big three have gotten about a million wake up calls that they make and sell us junk, maybe they need a million and one to catch on.

all they do is give them a minimum pressure as a safety issue... just like telling them what thickness tubing must be in a rollcage.

Although I cant remember the race, the teams HAD to run at a certain air pressure, because of the junk tires from Goodyear (or whom ever the sponsor for the tires was). I do understand the issue of a low pressure, but this was different situation coming from NASCAR. Its a load of crap, that once again, takes away from those who want to run their own way, instead, have to run NASCAR's way.

The only reason I remember this is because they talked extensively about it and how it takes away from the teams making the cars run the way they want.

Sure isnt like the good ole days, when someone came up with an idea that others hadnt thought of yet, and won with it. I also believe that NASCAR wants a select few to win, or give them the chance to win, over others.

NASCAR is a sanctioning body.

National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing.

They have many many many many classes and levels of racing inside the sanctioned banner of NASCAR.

From dirt tracks paying $100 to win, to Late Model Sportsmans, to the "Tour" cars, to the Modifieds, to the Truck/Grand National (Busch, Nationwide)/Cup levels... .

You can still watch the "good old days" of NASCAR at any local NASCAR sanctioned track.

:)
